Last week I watched the original Robocop, a classic film that's still great despite some dated effects. This week, I watched Robocop 2 which I've not seen since I was teenager.

I had to stop watching half way through, but so far I'm finding the film to be pretty good. I don't know if it goes bad in the second half, but from what I've seen of the film it's not the horrible unwatchable train wreck of a film people make it out to be.

So, my question to you is 2 fold.
-What are your thoughts/opinions on Robocop 2?
-Are there any games, films, or anything else that you think get more hate than they deserve?

It's a different film then the original. It's almost like it's not a sequel but a reboot as it seemed some important stuff in the first was ignored completely.

As for game, Doom 3. 2004 was the year most of the game media outlets found if they went with the "gamer crowed" they could get more respect, so they decided to throw id & D3 under the proverbial bus for no other reason then Valve & Valve fanboys. I stopped reading most game reviews @ that time because I didn't trust most game reviewers anymore.

I'm not fan of Robocop but that movie is really good in that time

Well, I never listen to haters so I don't know how many hate a thing (news, person, games, films or anything) has or had. But for games, it's common for gamers to hate games which is beyond their playing capability IOW too hard

Here's an example:

Armorgames.com

This game is a tribute to Gunstar Heroes so don't be surprised of similarities of that game. It only has 37 rating, far lower than other games

But after playing and completed it, I found it as one of best games in that site. Control scheme is hardly a problem to me yet many people complained about it

I think Robocop 1 is the best one in the series - much for the same reasons First Blood is the best one in the Rambo series: it has story and depth.

The first Robocop isn't just an action movie: storywise it's actually quite dark - and even sad. Murphy is lured to a remove location, humiliated, mutilated and finally murdered by psychopatic criminals, only to be "resurrected" by a greedy corporation as a non-human. His fate is really grim. The movie touches on important subjects such as authoritarianism, corruption, greed and explores what it means to be (and not to be) human. The sequels on the other hand have nothing of this depth, and they do nothing but exploit the success of the first movie in the same way as the sequels to the first Rambo movie. I still like all of them though, but the sequels just doesn't match the quality of the first movie.

If you haven't seen First Blood yet (aka Rambo 1) then I strongly suggest doing so - It's one of the better action movies of the 80's.

First Blood is a great movie. I saw it after the two original sequels and had no idea how much of a good story was there. I don't even think he kills anyone in that movie.

I think he kills the guy in the helicopter? It's been years since I've seen the film though.

I dunno. I get that from the other direction. If I don't care for a game that is notoriously difficult (eg. Dark Souls, X-COM 2) people seem to think I'm saying it's "to hard" as opposed to me not liking the game for other reasons.

there's a difference between "to hard" and "rigged to screw the player over." Many games I hate have the "rigged to screw the player over" feature, not "to hard." To me "to hard" would be Zelda 3 & Gannon at the end with no sword, armor, life hearts & the like. "rigged to screw the player over" would be that, but the game's set to always hurt you so it's impossible to win that situation. Not for story purposes either, it's would be bad design.

My only gripe is how they feel the need to remake everything, over and over... What aboout the post 2K Robocop remake. Make room for new ideas.

Look at how good Guardians of the Galaxy was, I think in part because it was something truly NEW.
