Newbie Introduction Thread Thread

Alright, in light of a number of "Hi, I'm new here.." threads, I decided to create a central introduction thread, where new members may introduce themselves, and existing members can WELCOME THEM KINDLY.

No flaming, or anything like that. Even if a newbie makes a fool of himself, here is not the place to flame him. This is a buffer zone of sorts, where absolutely no flaming will be tolerated. That having been said, we won't put up with spammage either. BUT, Spamming is not an excuse for Flaming. If someone spams, don't worry about it. We'll take appropriate actions.

Hi, my name is Josh . I'm not so new to modDB. But I never introduced myself. I like playing computer games like hl2 and hl mods. I also like blizzard games . I'm 12 years old and don't think that I'm such a grammar freak since I'm spelling everything right and adding all that other stuff. I'd like to one day own a really great computer.(My comp sucks right now -.-) Now introduce youreslf. And if you want a sig from me. Just post it at my website.

I'm Zack and I'm a big boxing fan. I'm 17, and I can pwn you in a foot race, or even a marathon (2hr17min 26 mile). I'm usually quiet and reserved, but I like to crack some jokes whenever I can around other people. Don't take me too seriously, because most of the time I am trying to be light-hearted, or at least post some evident information.

My favorite games are Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Xenogears, FF3, and Chrono Trigger. My favorite mods are ChaosUT2, Desert Combat, Counter-Strike: Source, and Hall of Mirrors. My favorite movies are Full Metal Jacket, Equilibrium, Versus, and Champion Road (Hajime no Ippo movie).

NOTE: I do realise that this is a thread directly targeted at newbies to the forum, but I think it would be pretty cool if everyone introduced themselves. I hardly know anyone in here.

I believe it is also a good idea for all of us to introduce ourselfs. I'm ShortCutMan, currently a Senior Moderator here at the modDatabase. I'm a coder by nature, and have/am coding in C++, PHP, a tiny widdle bit of Java, and in the game scripts Unrealscript and QuakeC. My favourite games are The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Unreal, and Quake. My favourite mods are Operation: Na Pali and Day of Defeat.

Dragonlord here. Another hard-core coder freak, especially in C++ and Dragonscript (who wonders, i wrote this one ^_^) but i can also do java, php, perl, python, smalltalk (fair to well) and i've at last used once scheme, haskell and some other weird languages ^_^. What a coincident: I study Informatics at University. My all time favorite game is Deus-Ex and i like playing the older NHL titles (soz, nhl2003 upwards just sux hell U_U). I'm also a freaky Linux-freak.

Brad Mclain, 16 serious gamer, I enjoy video editing, making music videos and other short movies etc. I am also learning to code (C++). Ill play any sport thats on offer but I am madly into Australian Rules Football and the V8 Supercars.

As you may have noticed i've been here much longer than a few of these guys with higher postcounts than me. Bloody spammers.

Alright, I'll go now. My parents call me Tim, and my friends call me the Tim (don't ask...). I'm 17, graduating in a month, and going to college this October (yay!). I know C++ fairly well, but am nowhere near the skill of some of the other coders here. Oh, I'm also the local very-left-winger. I like lots of mods, but I love mods that are all about fun. I play mostly multiplayer mods, for HL (because that's one of the few games I've got installed right now). Some of these include Counter-Strike, Sven Co-op (My love!) and Zombie Panic. I enjoy making/watching movies and music. My goal in life is to learn everything I can and to one day write a book that changes the life of at least one person, even if it's me. I also want to make a lot of money so I can give a lot to charity. I like to pour my heart and....joke! I'm done now I think. Also, I forgot. I go to a high school that thinks that I would actually answer the question "Have you ever been bullied?" by the statement, "We Cyberpunks never get bullied." (They capitalized Cyberpunks and didn't realize it was a joke.)

oh I forgot to add that i'm a coder modeler sounder voicer mapper skinner leader pr (aka the job to TELL PEOPLE TO DO THINGS IF I DONT WANT TO! though i rarely have a team and continue with the mod alone) and i lvoe gargoyles and I also used to be an adminney here.

I'm Bryan, 20 Years Old, reside in Pennsylvania. I'm into mostly RTS's and FPS. My current fav. games are Stronghold (1 and 2), GTA: SA, Empire Earth II, Half Life 2, Roller Coaster Tycoon (I still play 1 and 2, but not a big fan of 3) etc.. etc.. etc..

Perhaps I should have introduced myself when I created this thread..

Anyway, I'm a 16 year old High-School student from the West Coast. I have had a passion for everything computer related since I got my first computer about 6 years ago. Back then my favourites where Age of Empires, Wolfenstein 3D, Dark Forces, and some obscure adventure games. Though I do play games from time to time, my real passion is making them. I started web-programming 5 years ago, and started "real" programming 4 years ago. I released my first game (a very primitive stationary, console-based FPS) about 2 1/2 years ago, and have worked on numerous projects since then. I completed my first DirectX-based game last year, and am now working on an advanced RPG (click sig banner). I have been interested in mods since I first played Rocket Crowbar, Scientist Hunt, Wizard Wars, Kanonball, and a number of other HL mods at a LAN party 3-4 years ago. I never thought to get involved in the modding scene myself until late 2003, when I decided to start a FarCry mod. Despite a bunch of hype, we never really got anywhere. I've learned a lot from the project, most valuably that modding isn't my thing (but standalone game programming is). I still love playing mods, however, and am delighted to be on the staff at the largest site devoted to game modifications. I hope to get back to modding, but failing again and again with my FarCry mod has been discouraging. For now, I'll probably stick to playing mods, and making my own games from scratch. I don't post here all that much, comparatively, but do read the mod news and certain forum threads on a daily basis. When I do do stuff around here, it's usually writing reviews/interviews for mods and games, most notably my wildly popular Counter Strike: Source review.

I could ramble on about myself, but seeing as most people just wrote a few sentances, I don't want to seem self-infatuated, if that isn't already too late..

Oh yeah, and I probably should mention that I am addicted to World of Warcraft.

*grin*... i played around 6 years of Team Handball... and at school i was feared as keeper in soccer, land-hockey and team handball... har har... you won't score aainst me that easily >_<

im alex... ive been here for a really long time...

im a freshman in college, so i dont really have too much free time for games anymore (such a shame...). lately ive been playing doom3 when the mood strikes me, and every once and awhile ill play ut2k4 or starcraft across the lan with some friends.

im from washington, currently living in ohio, and since other people are trying to show themselves to be "non-nerdy" im 2 time ncaa all-american automatic swimmer, so i think that counts for athletics and what not
