Hello, I'm new here. Very excited to showcase my work.

But before I jump in... How do you build a community for your game? Is the basic strategy to post updates and teasers as much as possible?

Also, do I have to create a company page/group before creating my game page?

Thanks,

You want to create a group if you have multiple people that you want to have access to posting/editing content to the game page. I only use our group page to modify access control for members. It is often just I who post on the game page, despite others having access to post content.

I found that posting news when there is low activity, increases the possibility of your content to reach the front page. You want to do that, as it is free advertisement.
So you also want to make sure that you provide quality content for every article you write.

You want to use social media if it is important to you. I'm not a strong PR guy, it actually dread the work of reformatting the same content multiple times to provide a good appears on a different platform, just because one page uses BCC, another Markdown, a third is limited to 150 characters. However, you can find likes empathy and perhaps even support when you seek it out. To me it appears that Imgur is a good place for sharing feelings and animals and occasionally promote your game.
To me it is more pain than gain, but that is also because my gain is from working on the project, not so much sharing it.
We personally use Discord to collect all our small updates there, get feedback and then provide the large updates on moddb.

Share video content by youtube or similar.

If you need developers, simply ask for help in your articles, ask on the moddb forum and consider putting a few dollars into a job ad on moddb.
If you have a strong social medial, that might be the place to do that - but i have often found moddb contains the people you want in a project.
