For this recurring segment, we will be highlighting the five biggest stories on ModDB for the prior week. Whether it's new mod announcements, major mod releases, or important stories that affect the mod scene as a whole, you'll find them rounded up here each week.
The Week of August 12 2018
Tales of Middle Earth (ToME) is the first ever fully playable total conversion for AoK based on the works of J.R.R Tolkien. Featuring full 18 realms of Middle-earth including Elves, Men of the West, the Rohirrim, Southrons and the Easterlings, and the evil forces under Mordor and Angmar. Bring to life all your favourite battles and stories from The Lord of the Rings on maps of real Middle-earth locations. From the keen archers of Lórien to the trolls of Mordor; the Rangers of the North to the dreaded giant Mûmakil – hundreds of new units, with over a hundred new building graphics and wonders from the Middle-earth.
The Way of Chosen is the mod with a truly heroic aim, in some ways. If to be real short about what this mod is - it is Fallout 2 remake in 3D, which you might have been seeking. But this is not the exact truth. To be more certain, it is not the truth at all..
A redux of the cancelled mod from August 2016. Utilising content from developer repositories and some originally created parts, Half Life 2: Raising the Bar Redux will aim to recreate at part of the vision the original developers had for the game, as well as developing our own. RTB:R centres around a thematic melding of the HL2 Alpha, Beta, and Retail concepts, as well as our own ideas, to create a unique and complete experience.
While new Fallout content from Bethesda will be something different this year, it’s worth turning to Fallout 4’s talented mod community to see what’s in the works along those more traditional post-apocalyptic RPG lines...
We've added mod.io support to the game! Since early in development, I've made the game in a way that would be easy to mod, and have always thought mods would be a big addition. Mod.io will make it a lot easier to find, install and share mods! While we haven’t written a guide yet, there are already a few mods uploaded, so feel free to subscribe to them or join the #modding channel on Discord for help making your own!
