RPG in a Box is a tool for easily creating 3D grid-based, voxel-style RPGs and adventure games—everything you will need for building and sharing your own game, all packaged together in a box, so to speak! This "box" will contain an assortment of editors (centered around a map editor and a voxel editor) that will allow you to make your game the way you want. I will be striving to make the software user-friendly so that no knowledge of programming, computer graphics, or modelling will be required, all while still maintaining as many customizable aspects as possible so that your game can be unique.

Here are some suggestions for additional modules:

  • Music Creator - Nothing elaborate; A chip-tune music creator. There could be a procedurally-generated option and a create-your-own option. Again, nothing fancy, just enough for an 8-bit chiptune standard.
  • Sound Effect Creator - Once more, nothing elaborate. Again, the standard would be sound effects akin to an 8-bit game.

Admittedly, those are some "pie-in-the-sky" suggestions but, if the product is named "RPG-in-a-Box," then it ought to consider including that type of media in the box.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will definitely consider these. They will, of course, be lower on my priority list due to the nature and complexity of such features, but it would be great to include them at some point to help make the tool complete as you stated.

In the meantime, you may want to check out ChipTone. It's a free online tool for generating sound effects. I've used it to create the simple sound effects that are currently built into the game and it's a lot of fun to play around with. The latest version of RPG in a Box doesn't support importing any custom sound effects yet, but that will be coming soon!
