Nightmerica is a game about fighting your fears, and the monsters that live inside your head. In your boundless imagination, pretty much everything is out to get you - and it's only a matter of time until you're overwhelmed. The game is a retro styled platformer, consisting of arena based combat against hoards of varied and slightly terrifying enemies.

The game is a retro styled platformer, consisting of arena based combat against hoards of varied and slightly terrifying enemies.
Alpha Features:
randomly generated weapon crates
random health, ammo and modify-weapon crates
three gun slots including the infinite ammo sidearm
special weapons (golden crates) (swords and mines)
many enemy types
enemy waves of increasing difficulty
coins (needs to be balanced)
Special rounds
Full version features (possibly):
more maps
more game modes (basic survival, defend the base, procedurally generated arenas and boss rush).
The game is basically trying to capture the feeling of frantic fast paced action, combined with very satisfying combat and platforming controls.
Notes:
The Armoury:
The armoury (spelled incorrectly ingame!) lets you purchase starting weapons to replace the low-powered defaults (in the final game this will include your sidearm). The maximum round reached will unlock more weapons, although currently there are only a few. In addition to the pistol, you have two gun slots. Every time you change your starting weapon you have to pay for it so choose carefully.
Special Rounds:
Every so many rounds is a special round, where you have to fight a boss. These rounds will unlock weapon effects and special weapons in the final game, but these features are only partially implemented. Everything is unlocked from the start in the alpha.
General Comments:
You will notice that there are many unpolished and unfinished elements, this is because it's an alpha - obviously. For example special weapons crates read "WILLIES" when you stand on them, gun select screens tell you that "THIS IS YOU GUN" because I typo'd it and haven't fixed it etc. There are also intentional features such as being unable to replace or mod your pistol (gun 3).

Controls:
The game may be played using the keyboard or a joypad, currently buttons are not remappable (sorry!).
Jump - A, Button 2 on Joypad
Shoot - S, Button 6 on Joypad
Change Guns - Q/E, Button 7/8 on Joypad
Use / Action - Down Arrow, Button 1 on Joypad
Skip Countdown Timer - 0 key, Button 5 on Joypad
Pause - Enter/Return, Button 10 on Joypad
Pressing F or Joypad Button 9 on the Splash Screen will take you to fullscreen.
So far most menu's only operate using the mouse, sorry about that. It's to do with iOS compatibility.
Lots of things are temporary, such as sounds and much of the graphics / menus. So don't worry too much about some of those aspects.
This build is for Windows PC only, should run pretty well on most machines... (We hope..!)
