This small mod removes the ingame music for a more immersive VR experience.
Furious Seas neither has a volume slider nor a toggle for turning off the music. This small mod completely removes the ingame music, but leaves all sound effects and story narrative intact. For pleasant, relaxing VR sailing :)
Installation:
Run the installer, click Next and then point the mod installer to your Furious Seas game folder, for example "C:\Program Files\steamapps\common\Furious_Seas" or C:\steamapps\common\Furious_Seas"
To uninstall / revert back to original:
Delete the file "resources.assets" in the "FuriousSeas_Data" subfolder and rename "resources.assets.bak0000" back to "resources.assets"
What's new in v0.2?
- removing the music handler script in v0.1 also broke the story narrative (oops!), thus it is not being touched in v0.2
- instead of removing the music handler script, the music files are muted, keeping the story narrative intact
This simple mod was created with UABE - Unity Assets Bundle Extractor. Link to UABE website
Known issues: After completing the install, the UABE installer process may remain active in Windows. Use the task manager (CTRL+LSHIFT+ESC) to end Music_Silencer_v0.1_for_Furious_Seas_VR.exe. This is a UABE bug so there is nothing I can do about it myself, unfortunately. The mod should work as intended, however.
The mod / patch will also work together with my "Glint be Gone!" mod, which removes the annoying shiny glint effect on all interactable objects. Combine them both for the best immersion in VR, without any distractions :)
