Map Object Marker v1.0a
A simplistic yet powerful, generalized planning tool for level designers. This is software is intended for the second step of the level design process, object placement. The map in the preview is Dark Souls 2 map 'Drangleic', and is an example image only. The designed level must be in a .png format.
I originally wrote this software for personal use, but decided to clean it up a little and release it for everyone.
Assuming you design levels like I do (in Paint.NET or other photo-editing applications, whether pixel by pixel, hand-drawn, or another way), this should streamline the second step, which in my mind is object placement. You can use this in providing minor details on a map(items in a crate, spawned monsters), or larger details like location names on a world map.
Features:
• Give each placed icon a name and description
• Save your map data
• Sixteen map scales
• Load .png files hassle-free
• Twenty-six default icons, and plenty of room for custom icons
Controls:
Display Icon Info - Hover Mouse
Pan Camera - W,A,S,D
Place Icon - LMB
Remove Icon - RMB
Copy Icon - Middle-click
F1 - Load .png
F2 - Save Data
F3 - Adjust Map Scale
This software requires XNA 4.0, which can be downloaded here, or by googling "Microsoft XNA Game Studio 4.0 Download" if the previous link goes down.
