Wierd, I have an 64x OS and I don't have a problem at all, well, at least a crash, I just have some problems while dual-wielding and model rendering, but it's not something critic.
Thank you to Team Psyskallar a lot for this patch, I been experience many crashes that occur in the 1.6 version. This patch had fixed the crash problem for me and I was able play.
Thank you for the patch ruMpel! I am finally able to get past the first chapter. But there is a new problem. The game refuses to play the back-round music and weapon sound effects. I am running Windows 8 64bit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

ruMpel - I downloaded the patch as I have Windows 8 in 64 bit, but I keep getting errors about not having enough space to load maps and weapons. Could you possibly help me sort this out? Thanks.

Nerds rage downvote, WHOOP WHOOP #care. It fixed the issues I had with OUT OF IT. I don't know why, but it stopped the crash I got at the facehead.
The number pad for the elevator in the apartments doesn't work for me after this fix. But I went through SEVERAL loading screens with none of the COM_LoadFile ******** I got before.

Sometimes if i open a door the game crashes. And sometimes if i want to dual wield. And if i point the mouse on a gun, syringe, knife or anything else in the inventory, the item description disappears and i only see the background picture but then bigger. And if the game loads after that, the game crashes. I downloaded this patch and it really helps! A few game-bugs but no crashes anymore! And i saw that a new update with bug-fixes will be released soon! I love you Andreas Ronnberg! :D

Weird.. when I'm playing CoF in my Windows 8 (64-bit) on my laptop nothing crashed. Lucky me! But should I still download this?

This patch doesn't work. When I click and drag the file into the CoF file it launches the game and instantly crashes. Crashing when trying to install a anti crash patch? Awesome.
After getting this, the crashes stopped, but now the Glock doesn't make a noise. I'm not sure if it's all guns or just the Glock, because I'm still in the apartments. Also, when I dual wield anything, it still shows the hands. For example, if I have my phone out with my switchblade, it will still show the second hand as if I had only the switchblade. It's hard to explain. I keep re-validating the files, and it says one file failed to validate, but it keeps happening. Any tips or help would be appreciated.
Turns out it's all the guns, No guns make noise anymore.
The VP70 still does. I removed the patch and that didn't fix the gunshots.

This patch is awesome! I used to crash right when I entered the door past the padlock at the beggining, but now it only crashes after 1-2 hours of gameplay so I just need to reload and keep playing! I just changed the settings to 800x600 and pasted the patch and it worked, the game is totally worth the trouble, any Silent Hill fans out there will be delighted.
This makes the exe LAA, right? That should still function on 32-bit machines as it always has... but then again, this is just what I remember from reading about it over half a year ago, so better safe than sorry, I suppose.
