It is certainly possible. I have yet to figure out how to access the texture files though..
Nice! If you need actual symbols and stuff i'd recommend checking stellaris mods, there a huge packs of symbols from every game, subculture, nation and stuff =) If i can be of use i'd also like to help.
I know how to access the texture files I also have made it so your mod doesn't overwrite vanilla for me but is its own mod on that launcher if you want to know anything hit me up.

It won't even if you remove it all that will happen if that the module will use the last available colors from native
