Rondomedia company

rondomedia is one of the leading German games publishers and was founded in 1998. Together with our subsidiary astragon we are the second largest publisher and distributor for computer games in the German speaking territory (evaluation by units PC-CD-ROM/DVD, media control/Gfk, 2011-2013).

rondomedia was founded by André Franzmann, who is still acting as the company’s owner, making rondomedia an independent and family-owned business. The company is run by Kristina Klooss as managing director and Julia Pfiffer as deputy managing director – both longtime members of the rondomedia team with an extensive industry experience.

The business started its operation with the focus on the distribution of casual games for PC. The rondomedia’s first partner was U.S.-publisher eGames, but strategic cooperations with Ubisoft, THQ, Square Enix, PopCap, Atari and many other publishers followed within the next decade and enabled rondomedia to build up the strong market position it occupies today.

With further releases of newly developed games as well as the budget-republishing of former AAA-titles – mainly for PC and later Nintendo DS/3DS – rondomedia quickly managed to establish itself as one of the leading partners in the German retail market.

Next to casual games rondomedia very successfully commissioned and distributed challenging technical simulation games with interesting topics such as truck driving, firefighting and rescue operations. To this day, popular simulation games from the Euro Truck Simulator or Firefighting Simulator franchises are important pillars of the company’s portfolio and have paved the way for rondomedia to become an internationally operating games publisher.

In anticipation of the strong growth in the tablet and smartphone market and the growing trend for digital distribution in general, rondomedia most recently decided to extend its business from a solely distribution-focused company to a worldwide acting games publisher.

The continued growth of rondomedia, however, was not only realized by the company’s own activities – it also acquired and co-founded other companies in order to speed up the process of getting into a good market-position. Today, there is a whole network of companies owned or partly owned by rondomedia, which together offer a wide range of services for developers and customers all over the world and bring their products to consumers from around the globe. rondomedia’s subsidiary astragon not only focuses on games for PC but also on various consoles and mobile devices, while rondomedia concentrates on products for PC (digital download and retail) and mobile platforms (iOS, Android, Windows Phone).
