Crystal Shard is the indie game design group behind titles including Heroine's Quest and A Tale of Two Kingdoms. Spread over several continents, Crystal Shard has been producing quality retro games for over ten years. From adventure gaming to frantic action, and from complex puzzles to 4X world-conquering strategy, Crystal Shard has many hours of gameplay awaiting you. And like the best things in life, it's all free.
Crystal Shard was founded in 1995 by Pieter Simoons, who had a keen interest in software and game design. Beginning with some initial prototypes, he moved on to developing the rocks and diamonds type puzzle game Sub Terra in 2001, which was originally published by SpiderWeb Software and hailed as having ingenious puzzles.
In 2003, the first version of Leylines, a 4X turn based strategy game, was released. In 2004, Pieter became involved with the AGS community and started designing A Tale of Two Kingdoms, which was later released in 2007 as freeware.
From 2010, Crystal Shard began working on Heroine's Quest, which was released in 2013 as freeware, and extremely well received by fans of the RPG/Adventure genre.
Since then, Crystal Shard has now begun to move into self publishing its other games, including the Crystal Shard Adventure Bundle (comprising three short adventure games). Other games that are currently in the works include A Tale of Two Kingdoms (deluxe edition), Leylines (with total graphical makeover) and Sub Terra Draconis.
