Main game mechanics added to our game "Somber Home".

Hi guys. Today we are ready to show you the main mechanics implemented so far in our game.

In our top-down game, the character will be able to move around the rooms and interact with the objects in them.


Game Mechanics

Walking

In game, the character will have to walk around his house, through the dark rooms that surround him in search of answers to his mother's disappearance.

Movement



Changing Rooms

The character will have to go through the door to get to the next room, doing this will generate a new room and erase the old one, but if you try to come back to that old room, it will restart the room state and erase all the progress made so far.

We're still working on a way to make this function work smoothly for the player and keep its progress.

Item Interaction

In game, the player will be able to interact with items, in the gif below you can see the character turning the lights on and off. He will also be able to collect and use those items to interact with objects in the interactive world. Somewhere in the course of the game, the character will be blocked on the way and will have to find a key to open the door and progress the course of the story.
