I chose current, because it is so rarely done. Many RPGs are done in a fantasy, 'long time ago' setting, and a lot of war games are done in a Historic or futuristic setting. You don't see a lot of Current-time games.
True, we just get shoters and sims
I agree with SolarLune. Sometimes something is cooler simply because it is different from everything else.
Sci-fi, although I'd have chosen "current" too.
I agree with PhyOS. But I do like the Sci-Fi because you can have weapons that are not possible with earthly technology. It may take a good alien world to have the ability to develop an awesome weapon. However, in the current era, you can still to an excellent job with present day weapons. We could still use a little Sci-Fi, using the imagination on what we could possibly have (maybe in Area 51).
This is kind of diffucult to answer. Usually current means in the middle east somewhere, which is overused, but I don't like sci-fi weapons as much as current hardware. Post-apoc has gotten way too much exposure lately, and I'm not a huge fan of historic. I went with current, but if I could vote twice I'd say Sci-Fi as well
I believe the word you are looking for is Steampunk.
