I would say 2 and 3. Heavily depends on the project too. At some places, it's just not advised to go extreme, as the rule of familiarity can hit in. Personally tho, I prefer innovation (just like any developer does), as if something is new and good - it will be more entertaining to the general crowd. But don't forget - sometimes things do not get accepted exactly because they are simply "too new". In my opinion, a blend between traditional approach and gradual innovation is the best.
