You've probably already seen that we've started bringing back some life into our Steam community group, added a brand new logo and now, in today's update you'll see four things:
- Our engine of choice, that will replace Source: Unreal Engine 4
- The status of our first already playable level: La Fiere
- The new implementation of the free aim feature
- The come back of the in-game overview map
Now before you click on the video, one last note: Everything you see in there is whitebox; completely unpolished footage using place holder assets and assets from the RnL Source version. In the coming months we'll replace all that with state-of-the-art assets, but for the time being this will serve us as a base to start playtesting what we're building.
As to the status of our team, we're slowly growing with two coders, two level designers, one 3D artist and me being active at the moment. Still, we're looking for people who want to help us out, so if you believe you're up to the task, drop me a message. We're mainly looking for:
- Artists, to cover weapons, level assets, vegetation and vehicles
- Level designers, to re-create the most popular levels and make new ones
- 2D artists to create menus and interfaces as well as textures
- Sound designers, to cover anything from foley, weapon sounds and ambient audio
omg omg omg omg omg

OH MY GOD!!! OAJKWEOÅAKSROA
I really hope this one doesn't die as well, there's a lot of competition in Unreal Engine WW2 games (Tractor Wars?)
Traction Wars is being made on CryEngine, but still, TW will most likely beat it. RnL devs should join their team and help to create fresh game.
I disagree! TW will most likely have a very different gameplay and by merging the teams (which is not as easy as it sounds btw.) the unique R&L gameplay most certainly would be lost or merged and alienated! I don´t know if I will like TW gameplay yet but I love R&L gameplay and apart from cooperations regarding assets and stuff I don´t think this would be a good idea to risk that!
Everyones moving to UE4!
How alive will it be after Traction Wars releases ? No point remaking dead game when new one is 1 year away.
Thats just my opinion.
What´s the point in continuing TW development when we already know R&L will have great gameplay while we don´t know that about TW?! ;)
Maybe TW might be dead already by the time this game is released or R&L will be different enough to have it´s own fanbase...nobody knows so calling it a dead game already because there is another game with roughly the same setting makes no sense!
Hate to be a buzzkill but I think the original guys who worked on this all moved on to Traction wars or other projects, they seemed like talented people.
Without them, i'm not sure they'll be able to match the quality or carry this on in the same direction the original developers tried to take it.
That's not quite true. We have two of the original members around still.
To my knowledge there's one artist in the TW team who worked on RnL years ago, but that's about it. The majority of people who worked on RnL Source left years ago due to their offline life becoming more important and in quite a few cases because they got hired by game devs.
hype! hype! hype!
Nice to see an update =).
HOLY MOLLY !
Happy to see this return!
