Now play Trap Labs cross device multiplayer on Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS! Help me test my server!

Posted by on

After 2 month of working on public multiplayer it's finally stable for public testing (or not we'll see :)). I've also added sound and resolution settings (resolution is desktop only) settings.

What's unique about Trap Lab's multiplayer is that it's cross-device. Yes you can play on PC with someone on Android or iOS in real-time! As far as I know this is rarely done an indie game, or any game for that matter. I'm quite proud of this technical achievement.

The network is not yet optimized yet as the packets being sent and received are still quite large. This is expected to be decrease by over an order of magnitude in the future. So a good Internet connection and being in North America will help a lot.

How to help:
You can help me test just by playing multiplayer. Click "Multiplayer" from main menu and then "Quick Join". It's likely that you are alone because not too many people are playing, but you are actually playing online. Feel free to invite friends to join by using the "Join Instance" button and entering the instance number. This will allow me to monitor server usage and stability. If you experience problems I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know what went wrong. You can leave a message here on IndieDB, Discord, or email me at traplabsgame@gmail.com.

In the meantime, here's a gif of an upcoming playing character:
