Hello guys! I am very happy to announce that the first demo of Blood Fan remake is available for download. Please give it a try and share you thouths in the comments.
What's in the demo currently
- First level with 5 difficulty options
- 4 functioning weapons, with secondary fire modes for flare gun and shotgun
- 3 types of enemies
- basic options
Check out latest screenshots of the demo on hardest difficulty:
No powerups or items are implemented yet, also no map and no saving and loading
Future plans
Next release of the game will be in 4-6 weeks, and will contain levels 2 and 3, and also rest of the basic things missed in this release. I won't release version frequently, but I will listen to all feedback and bug reports and will try to fix it all in new releases.
Supporting the project
This remake is a huge project, and I am working on it in my free time. I have some help from the community, but mostly all work is done by myself. I want to try making this project fulltime and leave my job, but for this I might need your support. If you are interested please visit my Patreon page:
Every dollar is going to benefit this project, even if won't get enough to leave a job, because I will be able to buy more resources or hire people to help me ot. Thank you.
Also there is a 20th anniversary of the original Blood coming, so I congradulate all Blood fans!
Awesome, I'll download and play it tomorrow! :D
good work ! please doom 1 and 2 for unity engine :)
Where would be the point in that?
Hey, if you want your Doom to be all flashy and ****, try the Doomsday Engine. It's shiny and you can easily load 3D models into it. Either that or suck it up and be like most of the rest of us, using normal engines that are already built and have hundreds upon thousands of mods and other ****.
And besides, the author of this is still working on... oh, what a surprise; this recreation. I think they'll already have enough on their plate as it is. And just to add to that; they are human, they have a life outside of coding a game as a passion project.
TL;DR: Don't bother when you have great alternatives.
Chill out, he was just asking a question. Whether you think it was stupid or not, it was still a completely innocent question that was very positive.
I will admit, I do agree with you; I should have been less harsh, it was uncalled for. And for that I do apologise to nvidia444: I did try raise some points I thought were valid to find a suitable substitute to what you wanted, but I went about doing so in the wrong manner. I have no reason for my behaviour at that point. So, that in mind, I apologise.
dude this is outstanding
awesome!
correct me if im wrong, should it be on indiedb instead on moddb?
i mean most MODs are intended to be played with the original game + mod
so if is a stand alone game made on other engine must be at indiedb
just a thought :P
keep it up it looks incredible!
If you want it to be on IndieDB then I'll show you a trick:
On your url, change "moddb.com" to "indiedb.com" and leave the rest of this page url intact.
Surprise.
Do you ever divide the old doom and doom 2 into the unity of the engine?
I really liked the first demo. Got some suggestions though.
1) It really annoyed me that any doors closed when I left the trigger zone around them. They should have some timeout or they should stay open.
2)The rats weren't such pain in the *** in the original, here, they hunt you down wherever you are and they deal quite a pain.
3) Were the first browncoated guys able to throw grenades? Because I don't remember any guys throwing dynamite on me in the first round.
4)The flare gun willingly refused to light up anyone even after like 10 shots, I think such unfortunate didn't happen to me in the original.
5)If I wanted to go into detail - one more thing. I think you couldn't pick up the shotgun from anyone in the first round. That shotgun was supposed to be discovered in the second level, on a train. I was able to get it from the guy in the graveyard.
Anyway, keep going, and if you need any help, I'm up to the task! (I'm Unity dev myself)
Awesome demo. Progress is looking great.
This is awesome. Could use better optimization- I know it is early. The menus (graphics and the esc menu) are not responsive / partly broken. I noticed the same thing playing the demo for Putrifaction 2, so Unity issue I guess. Also you can set keys but does not take right away. The assets and levels themselves are super cool, I'm excited to see how this progresses. Great work!
I want desperately to help you in making this game. Not with money but rather with work. I'm familiar with Unity and I'm a good level designer, I've also made my own version of Blood weapons in Unity 5. Please accept my help, I, for example, can make Wrong Side of the Tracks for you. I work completely free.
P.S. If you refuse, I'll fork it and continue the development anyway.
