So one of my new years resolutions in 2011, was to run a development blog for the site + Desura. So here I am...

Posted by on

To begin allow me to introduce myself, I'm Scott Reismanis founder of ModDB.com / IndieDB.com and indiedb.com. For 8 years now i've been working on these sites (it all began because I found it hard to find organized game databases back in the day, with images, videos, downloads that work) and i've enjoyed every minute of it.

Day to day I fill my time replying to emails, doing all the boring business stuff and attempting to make time to do what I enjoy... coding the website you are now on. As a developer I've always found it hard to communicate what i'm working on, as I prefer to just work but my new years resolution was to get the community more involved in the direction of the site - so if you want to hear more from me, welcome to my semi-regular behind the scenes site blog. Besides with Desura now launched we have tons of ideas we want to get started on - and figure it'll be interesting to argue about discuss them with you.

Finally, I really pride myself on just how far this site has come, mostly because we help awesome game developers and modders get the attention they deserve. These days you can work super hard, but unless you are a PR pro (few are) getting noticed and mentioned among the deluge of information on other sites is super hard. So i'm glad we make it slightly easier, and enjoy reading virtually every post on this site. So keep the content coming and before I start sharing our 2011 plans (in the next post) let me know if you want to hear more, and what YOU want us to do in 2011.

What i'm playing right now: As a kid I never really played Metroid / Megaman / Mech type games, so i'm making up for lost time by playing A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda ... so many explosions!

We wouldn't be here without you.

We wouldn't have had all this fun, teamwork, and laughter again, without you.

You got us all here. And I'd personally like to thank you, not only from me, but on the behalf of the community here at Desura Network.

I was long lost, but I've now found my career path. It's been a joy finding it, and I hope I can share that with you, because your ultimately the one how has changed lots of peoples lives here, and your deserve credit for making/designing such a wonderful community.

I myself am now watching young designers, modellers, animators, web designers and artists collate together and share ideas. We all love it and hope you do!

And as a avid ModDB enthusiast, I'd love to hear more from you in the future.

All the best for 2011! Lets get those spanners out people!

Desura is going to be our big push in 2011. We are only just getting ourselves organized now but seriously expect it to list 500+ mods. It will take a little time thou... We've got some interesting ideas (somewhat controversial ideas) too which I think will be debated quite a bit, so looking forward to sharing them.

You are so "intense"! Heh... Anyways, enought with stupid jokes, and back to serious buiseness. Is the comment subscribing is on your to-do list this year? I love the Youtube system, and I think it's the only major feature that this website is missing. Oh and, like "moci" already said, you should add a Clear all, and View and Clear options to the update =)

I love this site so very much thanks for all the hard work you put into it.

Suggestion:
The only real thing I dont like about this site is the video player perhaps you could work on it a bit more?

DesuraNET is the best. They got everything for gaming communities. Indie games, mods and support with people that cares about reading our comments, testing mods like us... There's a lot of things that you have done for us, simplifying everything in three pages. (ModDB, IndieDB and Desura).

I think that you guys are made of WIN

Oh cool, a blog, but an interesting one.
I´ll try to keep my eyes on this then. =D

As for 2011 wishes? The forums are quite unfriendly here.
It melts replies from the same person into one long post (makes long posts, like SVN update reports, pretty hard to read and follow), the whole topic-tracking system seems a bit hard to learn, understand, or to use.. I dunno, generally, the forums feel a bit tricky and hard to learn.

..Still, thanks for all your work, we wouldnt be here without you!

These sites are great already! I agree with awsome ninja on the veiw&clear/clear all option(or maybe just clear updates automatically once you viewed it)but its not a big deal really

Thank you for all the work you have done!

I'm looking forward to reading more from you :D

Behind the scenes with INtense! Nice!

Well, I have nothing constructive to reply, nor do I have any great suggestions atm but I do wish to say something.

Been a registered member for quite some time, I've been a silent lurker for much longer and I've enjoyed every minute of it!

I know I speak for EVERYONE here; THANKS! Thanks for everything you've done for us all. You rock!
