Sunday Report #12

Hi everyone. It's been about 2 months still we last talked. Since then and now a lot of work has been done on Shoy Schot! nui. The secret thing has been completely finished and added to the game, an entirely new game mode built (bringthe total number of new modes to 6), and several other things here and there. The game has been polished like a precious diamond. Almost everything is finished.


Infact, Shoy Schot! nui itself is done aside from final testing (which is mostly done). The only thing that is left to do is to finish the mini-game: Clementine. That game is almost done itself and should be finished within the week.

So, if the game is so close to being done where's the release date? I'm waiting until Clementine is more finished, because you know... That Working Designs’ Spirit.Anyway, that all for now.

Sunday Report #11

This week I have a couple of important topics to talk about.

First, the Secret Thing is progessing well and the main part should finally be done by Monday or Tuesday, followed by a about a week and a half of finallizing and checking. After that the last part of nui will start: getting the minigame Clementine done.

Second, my computer is almost dead and I'm having a lot of problems doing simple things. I spent a lot of time this week just deleting all none essential programs and all games and services from it. It's enough to do what I need to do but still not great. This leads me to the next two things.

Third, this will be the last Sunday Report for the project. The next time you'll see me is when the game is released.

Fourth and last. Because of some of the problems I've been having and the scope of the Secret Thing and Clem, the release date for Shoy Schot! nui has been pushed to November. This will be the FINAL move. The game will release in November. I will post a more exact release date in November, but for now it is tentatively being scheduled for November 30th.

Sunday Report #10

This week I took a break from working on the game for the
first 4 or 5 days of week. The reason is part because I needed it, part because
of laziness. I hadn't taken a break from this project since mid-summer and
since I started working on this project seriously in Late May/Early June, I
haven't taken a break longer than 1 day. I needed to recharge.

While on a surface level the game barely looks any different
than the last release or even the first release, I have put a lot of effort
into making it polished and fun. My original scope for nui has long since been abandoned.
It was only going to have the base version of the 5 new modes and some
refinements to what was already there. It was going to take 2 months tops.
Since that original plan, the scope has exploded. It's hard to say exact how without
giving some stuff away (and I like to keep these short, short-ish), but for
example the original Endless Tower mode was only going to consist of what is
now called Endless Tower [Standard Mode] and a Top 20 record. The current
Version of Endless Tower consists of 3 modes, records for 2 of them, over 50
death responses, and secrets. Another example is Arcade Challenges. Originally,
it was only going to consist of 10-15 challenges and now it consists of 40. I gave
that treatment to everything-old and new.

On the surface, I know it looks modest, but I've put a lot
of serious work into it.

I was burnt out and tired and laziness was also a big factor
in this break. Excuses are still excuses.

Anyway, the week wasn't a lost. While on break, I designed
and finalized the new Interface for Clementine as well as getting the new rules
and gameplay some serious thought and design. While, it's still going to
release as Clementine, I've been referring to this version as Clementine MK.
II, because it's a lot different than what's in the demo (while still retaining
its original concept).

I'd also carried on work the Secret Thing the past few days.
Honestly, I hit a bottleneck with that like I did with the Tutorial Mode. It's
too big to cut and in my opinion too awesome, so it just needs to get done.

This week in Shoy Schot! nui-Land!

I worked on the secret thing some more--mostly taking a break from what I was doing and finished the technical aspect of it. Because of its size, I couldn't work on both it and Clementine. The two are too complex to work on their main parts at the same time. I did however worked on some of Clem's concept designs.

This week also, saw the release of a DEMO VERSION of Shoy Schot! nui. It's just a taste of what's to come. Read my earlier post for more details. Indiedb.com

Since the DEMO VERSION of the game was released there have been several improvements made to the actual game. They include:

1. Fixed error with the Death Responses of Endless Tower not rewriting properly when the screen refreshes

2. Overhauling the Shortcut System
>Better Consistency
>Increased Efficiency

3. Redesigned the Game Setting's Menu
>Was 19 options all on 1 page
>Now 20 options divided across 2 pages
>Changed order for better usability
>Other minor changes

4. Complete Color Blind Mode for Shoy Schot! nui (not including mini-games and Still Here) when Colors are set to off.
>Before some colors stayed on

Other than that, I mostly spent the week doing polishing. Just improving the core systems. I had originally planned to do this stuff after the secret thing and Clem were done, but since I ran into a few problem with those things, I decided to change schedule and do those things now. And I'm glad I did, because these little changes really made a big impact on the overall feel of the game.

Sunday Report #8

This week's update is going to be shorter than usual.


This week I mostly worked on the secret thing. I ran into some problems and thought I might have to cut it but I am proud to say that won't be the case. However, I am about a week behind my schedule, because of said problems which mean I need to change things up. Starting Monday, I've decided to start working on Clementine, while working on the secret thing to try to get back on schedule. [Note: There was a reason I was working on them together--they are both big parts.]


Other than I've found a few more errors and fixed them.


Next week may not have an Report as I try to focus on getting this out and other personal stuff done.

Sunday Report #6

Okay, this week I am proud to announced that the MAIN game of Shoy Schot! nui is done! Everything is in, tested, polished.

This week I did a lot of testing, polishing, balancing, as well as redoing and rewriting the How To Play section.

In terms of testing, I tested the game modes that I still needed to check for errors and balance. Out of that, I rebalanced Endless Tower a bit. I also, rewrote some of Tutorial Mode's Exam questions and cleaned up some of its Lectures. Then I made some minor adjustments to some of the menus.

I decided that I will add the special secret. That's means all I have left to do for Shoy Schot! nui is the secret thing and to finish the Minigame: Clementine.
