Hope you haven't given up on this, considering last update is from Sep..

This really is what is needed atm and based on that level design prt2, I would say you seem to understand quite well what classic fps levels were about.

edit: My point was, that why didn't you just instantly show that there are ironsights in the game? Why try to kinda hide it by putting it in the end of the video?

You know there are some people who don't welcome ironsights.

I don't care if i'm gonna catch some flak with this.

Why did you have to give me the impression that this would stay faithful to to Renegade, when in the end of the trailer you show that there are Ironsights?

Guess i have to develop my own game so that there is atleast one game in this world without ironsights and other modern crap.

spessu_sb @ How big is your development team?

At the moment i work alone, so i chose first option because i'm still just planning/designing the game on pen and pad.

I have interest in making a 90's style old-school FPS with very clever leveldesign in it and so far i'm really pleased with the levels i have come up with.

Lastly the soundworld. You did not leave almost any of the key sounds in it. Like eg. "THE" HL scene pretty much (the one where all starts by you putting that sample in to the lazer) has that strange DISTURBING lazer sound. Opening doors has that man saying "access denied" and some electric transformers have that disturbing weird electricity sound which you can hear when in Opposing Force (couldn't think of any other scene where you definitely have that sound) in the beginning you come from the tunnel and that guy is trapped near those transformers all caged up and then he fries himself by touching that electric-full door. That sound, that is coming from/near the transformes.

I think these three examples i gave also perfectly make that Half-Life 1 athmosphere which unfortunately from time to time, is missing in this otherwise wonderfully made remake. I do know this mod is free and people have done it just for their good will, but to me, these things are just too big to leave out. Other than those mentioned it is really good.

Maybe you could make a patch or something? It still seems to be in 1.0 state so it's still possible right?

Thing i didn't like about this remake (i know it's re-envisioning and not 100% replicate) is that the first levels are kinda bright, too clean and well-lit compared to original 1998 HL, which is more dark and uncomfortable enviroment and sound-wise. I think it should have stayed that way since it's kind of the key factor in HL1 creating that wonderful disturbing athmosphere.

And then there's that scene with that green SOB. It doesn't work like in Half-Life 1. 7hrs ago i've just been playing the original 1998 game and well, it even managed to supprise me. I could actually use something in that boss"fight", that i would have never ever even thought back when i was a kid. STEALTH.

In HL1 training level they actually introduce this stealh mechanic that is built into the HEV suit which activates when you move crouched. That stealth move could be used on that specific greenhead
bossfight. You could just quietly move pass it while it sleeps and that's it. But since in this mod you can't stealth move and that thing also never "sleeps", you can't stealth your way by it like in the original because it kills you almost instantly if your moving slowly near it.
In the orignal you can even move around when that thing is on "full-rage" mode where they bang every surface (prolly bang like a lunatic because they are/it is blind and therefore very strongly react to any noise). I thought it was wonderful to see how that scene offered various ways of completing it. Go all rambo and run to that exit, or be more intelligent and wait while it calms down and stealth your way through it (you can even make it without using those grenades) and there is prolly more ways to pass it but i just can't think of 'em right now.
Basically that thing had some AI that instantly reacted to noise, and when quiet long enough, it went to "sleep" by calming down significantly. As soon as you run, jump or make any loud noise, it's back on full-rage state though, banging every wall and surface there is :D

Wov! I really have to correct my statement. I just compared the two trailers (01 and this one) and you actually recreated this very well. I apparently did not even realize so many of the scenes were from the original DNF trailer.

So this mod really is a whole lot better than "quite good".
Im truly sorry for saying that, since game like Cryostasis is only quite good, while this is just pure awesome.

The mod is quite good really. Had some nice jokes in it too, but i had one weird encounter.

I have a legit 96 PC bigbox version of DN3D and this mod refused to accept my duke3d.grp file which is 25,2MB (encountered that "house of mirrors glitch"), so i replaced my grp file with one from the internet that is 42,3MB and it worked? Does this mod require DN3D Atomic pack instead of standard DN3D?

Compared to DNF this was actually very good. A tad short but hey, you guys made this free of charge, so yeah... not complaining. I also liked that it provided some puzzles and secrets like in the old days. Difficulty was also just right since i played on Come Get Some and it offered a real challenge. Couple of times was really low on hp and ammo but yet pushed through by improvising. One time was at 1 hp against Battlelord in the mines with low ammo and still got through :D

Thank you for making this and keep up the good work.
