Yeah the camera is actually something I haven't done a pass at yet with the melee. The animations I'm using for some of the attacks (namely the charge attack) is a really bad placeholder animation to just get the job done.

I test this thing a lot so trust me, I'm literally feeling what you're saying :-P

There will likely still be some camera movement in the final version, but it will be a lot more controlled.

Hmm that pink room is definitely a bug. I'll add it to my list of bugs that I'll hopefully be able to address for the next update.

Found a bug that causes you to die from jumping too much. Fixing it now and will upload new build when it's done building.

The end has been fixed and a patch is being released to fix a few other bugs as well as add a few more room and hallway types. so maybe come back later this week and try it again!

Hey puddleSone,

So I managed to try it at someone's Mac and the game seems to be working fine on that one (downloaded straight from IndieDB).

Maybe your download got corrupted? If not the only thing I can think of is maybe the system specs aren't good enough? But I don't think so, I tested this on a really crappy windows laptop and it had no issues :-/

Sorry I don't have a Mac at home to test it on so I had to deploy this one blind. Can you explain a little as to what you experienced so I can maybe have a look at possible ways to fix it?

Is anyone else having issues with the Mac version? Please let me know.

A lot of the work on the game is in disparate pieces atm so there's no "play through" just yet to calculate this sort of thing. But the idea is to have as much content as possible within our means. I don't want this to be an indie game that takes you 2 hours to beat and then you're done. I want this to be a game you experience for days or even weeks of gameplay if possible, and maybe come back for more.

I'm huge on replay value for the games I enjoy, so you can expect that to show in Rebirth for sure as its one of the core design philosophies.

It can be for certain games, however for us, I'm going for as much procedural content as possible for a few reasons:

1) Funding & Manpower: Handcrafting huge amounts of levels takes considerable time and thus money to do since every single level needs to be done by an artist.

2) Content can get static and boring: Play through the game once and the area is not new or as fun to explore as the first time. With procedural generation sprinkled into static environments, we can have areas that keep surprising you every time.

3) Specially for a horror game, static content means you get no replay value and the scares get watered down after the first time you experience them.

Was there something in particular about what you saw in the video that you felt would be nicer with a static world? Definitely want to get feedback on that sort of thing

Only a few people working on this part time. There are 3 artists currently contributing art and myself as the sole programmer. Plus or minus a few people who contribute something from time to time.

Hehe busily working on things. I'm trying to work on some key game stuff like improving camera/shooting mechanics before the next video. I may take some new screenshots of our new environment soon!

Sorry its been so long! I'm super glad folks are still checking up on us, promise some new media is coming!!

Oh and the procedural generation stuff has gotten a lot better, working on procedural terrain now as well!

They're debug widgets I use, they mark the connections between buildings. They're only there for developmental purposes, they won't be there in the actual game.

Heh a lot I guess though it all blends in my head since I'm always working on things.

New character model, procedural building generation, flashlight and batteries added, some of the non-zombie enemies are getting more and more fleshed out.

Improved enemy AI (hearing and vision) and the FPS camera mode.

I know most folks missed the livestream due to short notice, so I'm working on a video devblog this weekend to try and catch people up a bit on what's going on.
