Regiden @ Crowdfunding started and new Demo!

It was never intended to be free! The demo will always stay free and playable but the full game will be sold :)

Oh that's not cool :/ Did it happen right at the start in the story mode? Because that's intended. You get the dodge in the next map! :)

Oh did this work without additional software? That would be crazy cool.

Funny enough, I get this. At least when downloading, Chrome insists that the archive could be dangerous. My gut tells me this is some overreacting anti-virus software because of missing checksums and the external libraries we provide. Gotta look into this :D

The pillars have a certain height, so you can stand on them. This height corresponds to the height of the cliffs so you can walk on it. But the collision map restricts the movement which makes it look like you can only around the edges. this can be used to walk "on" collision tiles. This is what I meant when saying intended. Intend by the collision system that is. But that does not mean we don't have to fix it as you said! :)

You'll unlock them as you progress through the story. It'll be always two of them at the same time :) First Heat/Cold then Shock/Wave.

Thanks a bunch for playing! Glad you liked and we always love to hear feedback :)

It's true that the autumn area is missing more details. It pretty high on our list to make this better, add more landmarks and give maps more unique properties. However the goal is to not overdo it. This could easily lead to us never finishing the game :D

Is's intended that you can only activate skills on the neutral tree. But because the element modes acre already there (actually the skilltrees to, but the skills are not implemented) we though adding at least 2 of them so people can try them out and see how "magic" works in CrossCode. You can be sure we already planned how elements work. Each one will have an advantage and a disadvantage. Every element also weak against its counter element (Heat <-> Cold, Shock <-> Wave). So even if you fighting a cold-based enemy you have to make sure you're not getting hit.
The neutral tree is much much smaller than the element trees. Elements should be stronger much like a super mode you can use for a while.

While creating the menu for the tree I posted a picture of all the trees. Here check it out:

Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, sadly we can't 100% guarantee that we find all the OoBs. But we'll fix all we hear about. As long as it's not making the game less fun I hope everything is okay :D Walking on the barriers is actually correct from a collision standpoint but I know what you mean! :)

The technique is completely intended. This could be done from the very start. The idea here is that -if you want- can perfect dash moving and go faster through the game which is awesome for speedrunners. (Also good for testing :p) Good find!

Balancing is an ongoing process. So the demo does not show the final balancing at all. We especially increased the CP your needed so you try out more possibilities and not simply activate all skills at once. The real game won't have that kind of scaling ;) We also plan to let the community help us with the balancing after we start the early access thingy. So don't worry, we're not simply leaving skills as they are.

However, we won't ever add a passive skill that lets you throw 2 or more balls at the same time. This is too powerful (trust me, we tested :D). You can only access the neutral tree so I can see how it's hard to judge what were up to. Each tree comes with and advantage and a disadvantage. For instance, while the damage output is lower overall in Cold, you can unlock a 360° shield. Combine this with the counter mechanic we're going to build in and it makes up for a very strong element to use against relentless enemies (Think Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep).

Level cap is 99! Nothing to spoil here. You'll get more CP as you level up. There is a curve to the amount of CP you get per level up so it's just as you guessed ;)

5th playthrough? Wow awesome! There is a small bug with the chests. You can't actually find all of them right now... :D Will be fixed in the new version though!

hey, sorry for the late answer!

As Lachsen said, we hopefully fixed the bug. I also took a look at the pillars and they where indeed on the wrong level. So this will be fixed in the new version too!

Hey!

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked it!

We actually sometimes talk about multiplayer. But it's a whole new level of features we need to add to make it work. So we don't plan to add this for the release. However it the game does well and people want multiplayer. We could make an extension for PvP Matches and so on.

Quick-Saves are something we could add. We don't want to separate the controller player from the keyboard player to much. And buttons are area on the gamepad. It's probably something we need to talk about to decide on how we could add this without prioritizing one control type to much.

Again, thanks so much!

Regiden @ CrossCode Update #56 Megaton and CrossWeek Results

The standalone version will make use of node-webkit so it's essentially the same as with the browser version. Concerning the linux/mac problem I was referring to making the executable for those platforms. It's possible but we never tested it.

For browsers, all operating systems should work fine. It more of less depends on the PC and the browser you use. We have a pretty old ThinkPad and the game runs just fine on it! :)

Thanks for the help! Write us an e-mail if you tested it all out. It helps a lot, really :)

I don't quite remember is I answered this too... :D

We didn't really talked about this yet. But we can provide a downloadable version for sure! I can't make any promises as we never tested linux/mac and noticed some strange performance issues on low-end tablets when baking the game into an executable. We'll probably have more info regarding this in the next update.

Thanks a lot! :)

SDA in the name, I assume you're a member of the fine Speed Demos Archive Community then? A pleasure to read you.

Thanks a lot for all the praise! It always makes us very happy if people like what we do. If you liked the TechDemo get hyped for the first real demo! It's going to be awesome (I know it!).

30 times? wow. That's a lot. Did you stop the time? I'm a great fan of speedruns myself, so I get especially hyped if a runner plays our game. That's actually one of my personal "DO WANT" for CrossCode. A speedrunner running the game, finding tricks to abuse bugs/glitches we didn't find :D

Sadly, we wont add customization for controllers. Reason being that for controller the complexity of the implementation would be pretty high. In the full game the D-Pad is used to switch between the elements but we could swap the D-Pad input and the Left-Stick Input in some way. I can't promise anything but I wrote it down as a nice-to-have-feature :)
We tried to work around the disadvantages of the controller be giving the player full 360 Movement and the ability to just hold the R1-Button to rapidly fire balls. However we changed it a bit so the controls should feel more responsive in the next demo. Hopefully this will help!
For aiming mouse + keyboard will always be a bit better though. The disadvantage is that you only have 8-way movement. But as you said, this can be an advantage in certain puzzles :D

The Dev-Blog is a no-brainer for us! We are developers and we like to share our stuff if we can! And all this feedback already helped us to make the game so much better. It's very nice to read people enjoy our blog. Although we often fail to deliver all those promised technical post... It's difficult to create such post, because we want them to be as awesome as our updates.

Thanks again! Hope to read you again after the next demo ;)

Regiden @ CrossCode Update #55 Graphics, more graphics and keyboard configuration

Sadly no, we can't support those. We're bound to the API the browser has. But maybe there is a chance that these pads will be supported in the. Modern Logitech controllers have a switch for Direct Input or X-Input. Switching to X-Input works on these controllers without a flaw.

CrossWeek is a "meet-up" where we all come together to work on CrossCode for one week exclusively. We do this from time to time to get a huge boost for the game. It worked pretty well the last time!

As said, I really dig the idea of the enviroment. It's just sadly not in our plan. But if we ever do a DLC an underwater area would be cool.

I do agree on the Assassins's Creed one, although I missed some good old puzzles there. As of now we have every dungeon pretty much "sketched" out. But I could imagine adding new content via a DLC which could contain such an underwater area.

And thanks a lot!

It's definitively a good idea. However in our current plan there is no such area planned. Besides we all know how much people love them water dungeons right? *cough* zelda *cough* :D
