In case it's unclear, by the way, that cylinder represents what the bot uses to navigate the level - so that's where the bot *thinks* it is.

Upgrading to Unity 5 sure is fun >.>

Well, Adrian assures me that he believes December to be doable for him art-wise, and I'm very confident that I can get the necessary gameplay features done in that time. I've already got a pretty solid base for the game code, so I do think we're on track for that target.

It is slower. This is an FPS kit which is destined for the Unity asset store, with the movement intentionally slowed down.
I'll post a more detailed look at the final game's mechanics on the forum in a bit here (more than I could put in a comment).

Just wanted to pop in to comment on what VikTymZ said.
This "Map Load" method doesn't take a lot of CPU and RAM in comparison to loading everything at once ;)

You guys are using Unity, right?
You should give the Natural Bloom package on the asset store a try. Looks a million times better than Unity's default bloom.

KillaMaaki - - 11 comments @ Which engine would you choose for your next game:

Honestly, for me it's Unity 5 without contest.
Nothing, not a single other engine on the planet, beats Unity's amazingly convenient content pipeline, and incredibly flexible and easy-to-learn API and build process. Basically, it's massively convenient all the way around. And it basically supports every game-capable device on the planet.
Unity is amazingly flexible as well. Those who say it doesn't support good graphics are plain wrong. It DOES support amazingly detailed graphics - it just doesn't do your work for you. That would be like saying DirectX doesn't support good graphics because you don't get deferred rendering out of the box.
With the upcoming Unity 5, I truly believe Unity will be ready to compete with the big boys. Physically based rendering with image-based lighting, real-time global illumination, and more. Not much more you could ask for in an engine.
I'm not switching to anything else any time soon - there's just no need.
