I love Half life 1 & 2,I love Quake 3 arena, I actully beaten the game about 5 times and im going to play it again because its so fun, I am 13, I hate candy, I am pro at fps's and rpgs, I like Serious sam 2 Hd, Mod Db is the best mod database for games out there!, I download something of this site every day, I always try betas, I always watch mods so I'm one of the first to try is XD. I am very freindly so dont hasitate to ask me questions im always avalible, Probaly the first fps I ever played would have to be Max Payne, My computer specs are 2gb memory stick, 9800 nvidia gaming card, 500gb hard drive space. I love this site I wish I could meet the people that created this website because it is so brilant. I am thinking of desining video games and mods when I grow up. I want to make a game simular like Half life but in my own words. I love how when you setup your profile its just so easy to set up!, Well this is basicly all about me so I hope you enjoyed it . PS: Mod Db Owns!!!!!!!!!

Try mapping for the GoldSrc Engine. It is quite easy after you get used to it.

Otherwise known as the Half-Life 1 Engine.

It depends really.
The main thing with making levels in UDK is that you only make the basic shapes in the editor and you then use static mesh made in a modeling app like blender to flesh the level out. Plus UDK has a nice and quick way of getting you models in engine to help back this up.

If your completely new Sources Hammer should be easier to pick up. But it can be a pain to get models in game.

The best thing id would suggest to do is to try out a few engines and to see what one suits you best.
