It's now finally fixed.
I emailed Desura support about a month ago, and just the other day finally heard back from them. On Dec 7, they said: "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will reach out to the game developer and have them correct the files, please give us a bit of time in order to get it corrected and you should be able to download it shortly. We apologize for the inconvenience."
It's still not fixed, though.
Same issue here. They really need to fix this.
Why is there no direct download for this game? I would like to install and play it without using the Desura client, but, where there is usually a link to the files, there is nothing.

Willkeys be added to the recent Groupees bundle? I've owned this game for a long time, but it will be nice to have it on Desura for easy access and sorting.
At this point I wonder if it'll ever be released. I agree with you, Chaosprower, I'd be more than happy with just subtitles.
I just tried the Dreamscape from that link, and it did work, but I couldn't enter my registration key because it seems to work differently than the Desura version that I own. I took a look at the install directories of the two different versions and realized that the Desura version was not creating "Dreamscape.ini" like the other version does. after copying that file to the directory of a Desura version install, the Desura version worked.
So, in short, it seems that the Desura installer does not create the necessary "Dreamscape.ini" file, at least on my system. Fixing that fixes the problem. Thanks for your help in figuring this out!
I already own both Laxius Force I and Millennium 2 and both work fine. I also tried downloading Millennium 1 from that link, and it worked fine as well (in trial mode of course). Seems that it is only Dreamscape. I've also tried redownloading it in case it was a corrupt file, but that had no effect.
Thanks for the tip! Never would have thought to try that!
Out of curiosity, why? Frankly, that's just a reason for me to not get this game, as I don't want to use the client, and hardly any other games on desura require it.
That doesn't really answer the question of whether people who bought the Desura version before the Steam version even existed will get a key, only what future buyers will get.
I can't get this game to run on Windows 7 64bit and no compatibility mode helps. Nothing happens upon launching the program; the dreamscape.exe process immediately shuts down. Any suggestions?
So will Desura/Indie Royale owners be getting Steam keys, like most devs opt to do?

Can you guys add an option to the installer to change the install directory? I cannot allow the game to be put on my C: drive, but there is no way to stop it from doing so, as far as I can tell.
The config program is not saving my screen resolution choice. It always reverts to 800x600. I've tried various compatibility modes and admin privileges for both the config program and the game executable. I'm using Win7 x64. Any ideas how to go to higher resolution?
Wow, that's so disappointing that you guys got screwed by Indie Face Kick. I hope you guys are able to recover. It seems you weren't the only ones were the victims of that scam: Original-gamer.com
Has anyone taken legal action? Have you guys tried to get any gaming websites (perhaps Rock Paper Shotgun or something) to cover this fraud? Or even just a post on Reddit or something? Maybe if it got some coverage, you could leverage that into some sort of compensation.
Now that it's nearing the end of January, is there a release date?
Congrats on the Greenlight - I always thought this game was very deserving. Will existing owners on Desura or the Indie Royale bundle receive Steam keys, as has happened with other greenlit games?
You might already know this, but if you want to distribute steam keys to Desura owners, it can be automated so that the keys are distributed through Secure.desura.com when requested by the user. Games like McPixel and Postal 2 have done this when they got onto Steam.
The McPixel guy was able to automate it and distribute Steam keys to Desura customers (http://blog.sos.gd/mcpixel-steam-redeem/). It was also something that he was able to implement rather quickly (see Twitter.com) so it must not be too complex or difficult to set up. Given that this demonstrates that it is both quite possible and also allowed by Steam, and you have now been Greenlit, do you intend to give Desura owners Steam keys?
Roughly when is this game expected to be the completed version?
Thanks for posting this. It really shows how non-functional this game is.
I hate it when games have these "ClickOnce" application setups, or whatever they are called. I want to control where and how my games install, not have files scattered everywhere as soon as I click something. Please, either just provide the game files in a zip file, or provide a proper installer.
Playing this brings back fond memories of playing Toejam & Earl: Panic on Funkatron.
