Yes! Yes! Yes! I will be able to play Fallout 3 on Linux! Fallout: New Vegas and Morrowind are my two favorite games!

Romans 4:4-5

You are all doing an excellent job! I have however, one request. PLEASE, finish the construction kit! Currently there is no terrain editing or object clipping. I can't really do much without those two features, and I need them because I am using Linux and therefore cannot use the original construction tools.

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (KJV)

Platforms include Linux and the editors that they are using include Trenchbroom and NetRadiant, which means that I will be able, not only to play it on Linux, but also make my own maps. That makes me happy. I don't want perfect games. I just want fun games to mod. Quake is still a fun game, and easy to level edit. This is what I want to see. I want to see simple games with simple mod tools. Modding is better than playing anyway.

I love exploration in games! Morrowind is one great game that scratches that itch! I have long had the desire to make a game for housebound people that would allow them to feel like they are getting out. Perhaps this is the engine I have been looking for. With all original assets, I could do almost anything with OpenMW and make an original game. I have to learn OpenCS though. I never got into Morrowind modding due to the fact that it wasn't open source. Why spend time modding for a game with a limited shelf life? This changes things though in a big way. After all, because they released the source, people are still modding for the original Doom! But I never finish my creations anyway.

No pressure guys, but if you don't finish OpenMW, I will curl up in a fetal position and weep. :( Keep up the good work! You are doing an amazing job! I don't take lightly how much work has gone into this project!

In light of the fact that the company released the source code for Penumbra, I would really like them to release the source code for Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Perhaps we should let the company know that there is an interest. You can never have too much source code, and seeing how that John Carmack has left Id Software, it is unlikely that we are ever going to see the source code for Rage or the new Doom.

This looks interesting. I am a born again Christian who is obsessed with modding, writing, and game creation. I started map design back in the nineties with Duke Nukem 3d. Then I migrated to other engines. I lack focus and commitment though, so I never finish anything. I've made maps for everything from Doom 2 to Unreal Tournament 2004. None of them are very good. I was going to make a Christian horror mod for a game that never got finished. So instead I turned it into a short novel under a pseudonym. It is about a Satanist who becomes a Christian and turns against the cult of which he was once a part, because they want to sacrifice people to the devil and kill him for leaving. But I still might make it into a game some day. I agree that most "Christian" fiction isn't intense enough. In your words, "and I will be the first to say that almost all Christian games and films are corny, shallow, sanitised and totally suck." The Bible is the most intense book ever written. If people can't make it seem exciting, they are doing a disservice. I hope you do well with your mod. Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."(KJV)

I am very enthusiastic about this. There are not enough open-source rpgs, and Morrowind is the best rpg ever, in my humble opinion.

I am really excited about this. Morrowind isn't open-source, so you are essentially MAKING it open-source! There are so many open-source games, but most of them are first-person shooters. With Open MW, and now Arx Fatalis being open-source, that is changing. Not that I have anything against first person shooters, but I want variety, and I think of Morrowind as the king of RPGs.

I like the idea of FreeDoom. The engine is open-source, so naturally people should take advantage of that fact. However, some of the monsters look a bit poor. I would like to try my hand at making my own monsters for the project, (I am an hobby artist) but I am using Windows Vista and things like XWE do not work very well. Is there some other way I can import monsters? The worst that can happen is that they won't look very good either, but it couldn't hurt for me to try.

You have to finish this! What you have done already is amazing! I have One Unit Whole Blood from gog.com, but making my own levels is a pain due to having to run everything through dosbox. So naturally, I like this port. It is very promising and coming along nicely. Hebrews 9:22 "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission."

Blood is one of my favorite first person shooters. What you have done so far is astounding. If you finish this, it will be the same as having the Blood source code. There is the problem of you getting into legal trouble because you do not have permission to use the Blood assets though. I am no lawyer, but I have an idea. Since they are still selling Blood for $5.99 at gog.com, all you have to do is make it so that this total conversion requires Blood to play. If you do that, this then ceases to be an EDuke conversion and it becomes a source port for Blood. And then the world has the equivolent of the source code for Blood and since people have to have Blood to play, they can't sue you. It would essentially be like modding Blood, and that would be totally legal. Just make it so that the program checks for the blood.exe or blood.ini before it will run. As the result people will start using Eduke to modifiy Blood and they will be able to do whatever they want because they will have the source available, and Monolith won't lose any money. In fact, you will be extending the life of the game. At least that is what I would do.

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

I have been trying to make maps for this game, and I just want to say that I was looking and that there are very few single player maps for Quake 2. Almost all the maps are multiplay only. I know there are some single player maps, I've played them, but there are not enough. I would like to suggest that people make more single player Quake 2 maps, provided they are decent of course. They don't have to be miraculous or anything, but I would like to see more, and I am sure that I am not alone.

Just change the name to something else, but tell everybody that it is inspired by Kingpin and you won't have any legal woes. I think that the multiplay maps for Kingpin are incredible, and to think that they were made on the Quake 2 Engine. Making realistic city scenes on such an old engine is nothing to be scoffed at. Obviously, I am interested in what you will do with the Quake 3 engine.

You can now get Blood for $5.99 on gog.com. It works through dosbox, and it is already configured, so all you have to do is click on the icon and play. I just thought that I would say something in case people didn't know that you could still get it. It is one of my favorite games of all time due to its dark horror atmosphere. My recommendation however, would be to not make Blood Source, but to take everything that you liked about Blood and make an original game with the same feeling. Then nobody could complain about intelletual copyrights or anything.

I discovered something. Quake III: Arena maps are compatible with Open Arena! Just place them in Open Arena as you would Quake III: Arena! Of course if any of the original textures from Quake III: Arena are used in the map, then they appear as a black and white grid. I think that the makers of Open Arena should go to Planetquake.gamespy.com and ask the level makers if they mind converting their levels over. That could make the library of high quality maps in Open Arena huge! Just my recommendation anyway. They'd have to use all non-Id textures of course.
