Hi! I like playing games. I also like making games. And I also like collecting old, interesting, unusual or underdog games. Basically, I'm a bit of a game nut.

How do I run this? The game just quits with an unspecified error in compiling the CON file.

This download likes to fail a lot halfway through. Good thing there is a way to resume...

Is there any chance at all this could be made Linux compatible? Pretty please? It just crashes now because it tries reading a DLL (which doesn't work for obvious reasons on Linux)...

Ah well, will try it in Wine for now.

These crash as soon as I try to start a new game. Clicking New Game does nothing at first, then the second time it makes the game crash with "missing file: opfor.wad". I figured out I needed Opposing Force, which I installed and I even copied opfor.wad into the valve/ directory, but after that Both Ispitatel 1 and 2 just crash when I try starting a new game without error messages.

If it matters any, I'm trying to run them on the Linux version, but it seems more likely there's some misplaced file somewhere?

The shell script to run this on Linux looks as follows:

#!/bin/bash
cd ..
./Amnesia.bin64 fullconversion_1/config/main_init.cfg

Put that in a new .sh file inside fullconversion_1, set it to executable in its propertyies, and you're good to go.

You don't need YouTube for "unzip and move files" instructions.

It says "Linux/Server", but considering how large the file is, is this also a playable client version?

Good mod. Somewhat glitchy, but mostly nothing gamebreaking (apart from being able to throw the crates over the fence outside of that first guy's house, even though you NEED the crates). I personally did not feel any suspense or horror most of the time while playing this, but it's well-made, fun to play and has some funny subtle jokes in it. Maybe a bit too linear even though there were some obvious potential areas that seemed like they'd be fun to explore but just have invisible walls blocking them.

The install instruction video was very informative and funny, and even works on Linux. Thanks a bunch for Jamie-ing this mod.

Any server ever always uses your computer's IP address. You see, an IP address is a number that identifies your system, and software (like a server or a client) then proceeds to use that number.

You might need to set up port forwarding to get your server to connect to others on the internet, however. Check out Portforward.com for help on that.

No, it goes into a folder. A shortcut is just a link pointing to the actual folder (or executable), after all. Just make sure to pay attention to the location that the installer is installing your files to.

Still doesn't want to work here! The files verify correctly but Desura gives me "File is not valid exe [c:\path\to\my\hl.exe] [61.0]".

Okay, leaving it on for an hour or so automagically fixed the issue. Kinda weird. But at least I'll be able to play a (presumably) awesome mod!

It turned out that the version of ScummVM bundled with this isn't statically linked, so it tries relying on my system's libraries. The issue with that is that I have libpng 1.5.10 where ScummVM is looking for version 1.2.0.

Overwriting the scummvm binary with the one in /usr/bin fixes the game, since it looks for libraries you actually have.

Man, I remember having the demo of this. Fun times.

Hmm, it doesn't seem to want to run on Linux x64 for me. I'm on Arch, and it doesn't work with either Intel Sandybridge or NVidia GT540M drivers (using optirun/bumblebee).

When I add Teenagent in my existing ScummVM install, it does work, but I'd rather be able to launch it from Desura, too...

Edit: The 32-bit version won't start, either.

Pretty neat game. Nice, changing sound track as you die more and more times. Original game mechanics.

It could use a bit of polishing, though:
- A level editor could increase the replay value (and price of this game) so much more. Really, I'm surprised it's not there.
- There is nothing to create competition with, like a time-based scoring system or stuff like that. The game could definitely benefit from that.
- The graphics are simple, which is nice, but it could use a bit more. Like a background that really slowly changes as you progress through a level. That way, you have more to look forward to as you make your way through the game. More importantly, the line is rendered badly at every bounce point, looking "broken".
- I get errors on startup about resolution switching (but the game still plays).
- The CD key enter system doesn't seem integrated into the game at all... It's just an incredibly simple separate window with a lot of whitespace. Sure, you see it only once, but still...

In other words, as the game is right now, it should be free. Sure, the gameplay is nice and original, but the game is as polished as a lot of free games out there. Polish it, add to it, and I'd gladly pay 5 to 10 bucks.

So. Keep it up, and improve it. I'd love to see a version of this game that adds a bit. Also makes it so much more sellable. :)
