I have created a YouTube Channel, where I can be heard muttering my way through various S.T.A.L.K.E.R. videos I am making along with a couple of Fallout ones.

I am interested in adding just the dynamic wet surfaces from Dynamic Shaders 2.0 to Autumn Aurora 2 without changing anything else. Any ideas on how to do this would be very much appreciated. Thoughts? Can it be done? Or perhaps another way to add dynamic wet surfaces to AA2?

Good to hear from you again, sorry I haven't answered, been busy with r/l and not had any free time. If you are thinking of getting back into Stalker I can wholly recommend Call of Chernobyl, it's everything you need though I haven't gone to the latest patch yet. Thanks for the kind words about the videos.

Hello!

I was referred to you about making Autumn Aurora work with Dynamic Shaders 2.0. I sort of got it working / merged by using ReShade 2.0.3f1, Autumn Aurora ENB version files, of course Dynamic Shaders 2.0. I over-wrote Autumn Aurora ENB files with the ones from Dynamic Shaders 2.0, but the game would crash. I kept tinkering and figured out that using GameData\Config\Weather Environment.itx from Autumn Aurora 2.1 fixes the problem.

My problem is SHADOW BANDING. There's a very visible and super annoying line at which shadows are no longer drawn on the ground, on objects/items, structures, etc. Its about 40ft from the player. This means as I walk/run, I see this banding after which shadows disappear. Its a super-immersion breaker!

I tried messing with User.itx file, changing R2_Sun_Near, R2_Sun_Near_Border and other related lines to higher and low values, but NONE of that helped me...

The odd thing is that Autumn Aurora 2.1 NonENB version with older version of Dynamic Shaders 1.1 + SkyGraphics does not have that problem to the same degree. It only has slightly visible banding that occurs on building/structures as I move further/closer away/to them, but it doesn't show up on the ground and on other surfaces. I think this modded version of DS1.1 + SkyGraphics holds the key to reducing the shadow banding problem with Dynamic Shaders 2.0 and it is not affected by User.itx settings.

I would appreciate any help with:
1. Further improving Autumn Aurora 2.1 + Dynamic Shaders 2.0 merging
2. Fixing shadow banding problem with Dynamic Shaders 2.0...

THANK YOU!

Hi, sorry for the delayed answer.

I did have a go at merging Dynamic Shaders with AA and it worked OK. I didn't use the ENB shaders as only wanted too see how AA looked with the dynamic shaders.
The banding is probably caused by ReShade and I don't have a lot of knowledge around them. In the past the amount of bloom reshade causes is just too strong for my liking. I think there is a great future for Reshade but until the bloom becomes more controllable then it doesn't seem to work for Stalker games.
The Dynamic shaders mod at present is a trail version and will in future be worked on by Meltac who I know is busy with a project at present, the results of that project may feed into the dynamic shaders programme.

I'm sorry I can't be of real help at this time, I am busy on a couple of projects myself but a return to working on merges using the DS shaders is on the cards.

I would be interested in hearing how you get on with this work and would like to hear about any dates you have.

Please accept my apology for the late answer.

Thanks

Dave

ReShade isn't the cause shadow banding, which is present for a ton of people, even those using normal, non-modded STALKER SHoC + Dynamic Shaders 2.0, but AA2.1 somehow succeeded at reducing this banding with their custom version of Dynamic Shaders 1.1 + SkyGraphics. I use vanilla ReShade that doesn't even have Bloom enabled by default and without ReShade installed, the banding is still there.

You also misunderstood what I said about ENB. AA2.1 comes with 2 different GameData\Config folders, one made to work with ENB and the other one made to work with the package Dynamic Shaders 1.1 + SkyGraphics, which do not work with ENB. For me to make Dynamic Shaders 2.0 work at all, I had to use AA2.1 GameData\Config folder from the ENB version of AA2.1 because the Non-ENB files would prevent STALKER from loading with Dynamic Shaders 2.0 entirely.

Could you PLEASE guide me on how exact you merged AA2.1 and Dynamic Shaders 2.0? When you installed AA2.1 originally, did you select ENB or Non-ENB version in the installation wizard? Did you have to edit any files?

I didn't use the ENB option, once you have AA running you will need to merge every file in DS with it's corresponding file within AA, I would suggest you use winmerge to achieve this, just check the differences in each file and add or over write the differences, any files that don't have corresponding files you just add.
IIRC, AA uses the v1.0006 patch and here is a slight problem I found, using DS on v1.0006 gave me some artifact problems and needed a lot of adjustment in the shaders txt file to get the right balance, some of the effects seemed "stronger" on 1.0006 than on 1.0005.

Another consideration is that a mod like AA has had a lot of work on it's shaders as part of the mod, a similar case could be made for LURK, I tried adding DS to LURK and although it could work it lost a lot of what LURK was mean't to look like and the same applied to AA.

You might get more joy adding them to a standalone weather mod like AF3 or SWO to get the idea of merging and testing/adjusting DS that way.

Hope this helps.

Thanks again.

I am trying to use WinMerge, but I don't quite understand the point of it. If I compare 2 different files and then select to have DS2.0 file content/lines to be copied to AA2.1 file content/lines, then it just creates identical files. That's no different from simply copying DS2.0 files onto AA2.1 installation and over-writing files, but it does not work! The game won't start...

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear, you need to merge the files which could include adding extra lines from DS files into AA's while keeping the AA files intact, as you scroll the differences on winmerge, don't just swap the lines of difference, you will need to add DS lines of code into AA's, you will also have to keep them within the command lines.
If you get crashes you need to get the log report to check where the error is, this will give you clues to fault finding/bug hunting.
It isn't a quick job and you will get problems but it is doable.

When you installed AA2.1, which option did you select - ENB or NonENB? It forces you to select one. By default it is set to use the ENB version (for high-end PC).

I didn't use ENB, I used the NonENB, you then need to merge the files.
