My good buddy Kiwidog has been working on Frostbite tools for a few years now called Rime, which was part of the Venice Unleashed mod for Battlefield 3. It will eventually even be able to edit Frostbite 1 and 1.5 engine games, as well as the later modern stuff.

I was pretty deep into managing the Steam community for Venice Unleashed before I dove head first into BF2 modding. You can see our group here, I used to host bi-weekly playtests and meetings with people. Had around 600 members.

There should be links there explaining how to get your copy of BF3 modded on their custom servers. It does require a legal version of the game however, and they check to make sure it is. There are other ways to play on hacked servers though if you don;t own the game.

Well,it seems like a friend of mine somehow figured out how to make mods for Battlefield 4. Damn, I'm excited to see a release and a possible way to actually mod this piece of trash called Frostbite Engine!
