Shadows couldn't be baked into textures because they were semi-dynamic (many light sources were switchable). Lightmaps are applied together with textures on surfaces in runtime.

But it would be great if somebody could recalc them to higher resolution...

I've just finished free version from your web and bought Alpha here. It's one of the greatest indie games I've ever played. Just one thing I would change - climbing speed on ladders is too slow. In all other aspects it is perfect. Thank you.

After seeing Thief 4 game-play from E3 I think The Dark Mod looks far more promising than Thief 4, good work!
