The Humble Indie Bundles or Humble Bundles are a series of game bundling experiments that allow users to purchase collections of multi-platform DRM-free independently developed video games online in a "Pay what you want" manner, with proceeds bypassing middlemen and going directly to the indie developers and charities.

Are humble bundle 4 desura keys coming? May be a good New Year's resolution :)
For anybody who's excited about this sort of thing, I've recently put together a self-updating page showing and comparing statistics for Humble Bundles past and present.

There's some pretty interesting stuff highlighted in there. I'm intending to write an article about it soon (though if anybody wants to write about their own interpretations, that's cool too) :)
wow man thx i usually do my own approximation on calc this is so good thx for the effort
Glad you like it :)
That's pretty cool, though I wonder to what extent the figures are skewed with high paying group contributors such as @HumbleBrony who currently have $7,000.00 for HiB4? Is the $7,000.00 counted as a Windows, OSX or Linux stat (or mix of two?) and how representative is this of the donating users?
I don't have direct access to platform choices for individual contributors and I can't say I was really paying a lot of attention, so here are my best guesses :)
According to Humblebronybundle.blogspot.com, they had over one thousand contributors to their donation, which I don't think would make much of a dent in the rest of the statistics.
The windows average jumped by several cents when Notch made his $8k donation, which vaguely suggests that he selected Windows as his platform (MacOS and Windows went up by 1c each which seems to have corresponded with 'normal' purchase increases).
I didn't see any similar jumps when the @HumbleBrony donation was made, so it's likely they didn't select any platforms.
Much of a dent compared to if those thousand people payed $16 each, that is.
I have not installed any of the games of the Humble Bundle #4 let alone played. But I love the OSTs - I cannot get enough of Jamestown's soundtrack.
Maybe you got money to burn, my friend, I don't and it highly frustrates me when I spend my hard earned cash on a game just to see it a lot cheaper not long after. I love indie games and buy some titles from time to time (usually 1-2 per month). Each one I carefully select to make sure I like it etc. I don't have much free time to play those games though (not to mention hundreds of other games in my collection), so they just lay around on my hdd until I have some time to play. And then a bundle comes around featuring the game I paid for and haven't had a chance to play it good, and I could pay 0,25$ (bundles usually have 4 games) for it. That's why it feels like lost money.
even if it wasn't in a bundle, all steam games get discounted. just wait for the next big sale. so, especially if you're not playing it right away, it's always "burned money" to buy full price, unless you want to support the developer by willingly pay more.
