In the 8 bit era of consoles, there was a game called "Miracle Warriors" for the Sega Master System.
Although Miracle Warriors had very simple visuals and gameplay, it did deliever one thing very well. The sense of an open world and exploration.
In Wonder I want to provide this sense of exploration.

While Wonder is inspired by Miracle Warriors, it is different in many ways. First it can be played online. And second, the combat mechanic is different.
The combat mechanics consist of standing near an enemy. While you stand near a hostile creature, and your mode is not set to "peace". You will automatically attack every turn.
This becomse more complicated when there are multiple enemies, multiple players, flanking bonuses\penalties, escape rules, magic and special items.
However, basically the gameplay will be simple(but not simplistic).

Currently wonder is developed for Windows, but there will be also a client version for the web. The web client will use Silverlight. Since Silverlight is also supported in Macs, it will be possible to play Wonder from a mac.
There is also a possiblity Wonder will use cloud technology. Although, this is more of a buzz word since it shouldn't affect gameplay too much.

Hello everyone, This is a status update of the "company" Pompi Pompi Entertainment, which consist mostly of myself. First of all, there is a new free game called "I'm an idiot" over here. It's a very short and fun game, you can complete it in a couple of minutes, so I recommend you to try it out.

The RPG game\engine "Wonder" is canceled. I am sorry about that. I have decided to scrap my old base code, which served me for several years, and start fresh with a new framework called "Fatal".
I have gained more experience and insights in the programming and software design fields that convinced me I should start with a new framework(as opposed to base code).

I would like to share this new framework. It could be by letting others to use it for their games, it could be by making the source code available for educational purposes. I am not sure yet. The new game I am going to develop with "Fatal" will be called "Fatal Wars 2". It's basically an Archon clone. Why '2'? Well, there was a '1' about ten years ago.

And finally, I made "Labyrinthica: The Quest of Lima" available as a Pay What You Want at Yawma.net, with a minimum of exactly $0. It isn't going to get any lower than that, then I suggest you try it out now.

I would like to hear your feedback, if anything of this sounds interesting. I have been trying to find my way in the Indie world for several years, so if you have any tips or ideas you can share I will be glad to hear them and I am sure other will as well.

Ofer.

"Gameplay complete" alpha. You can play in single player and finish the game. Multiplayer might not work if there is no server running.

I know you said the graphics weren't final, but I think a "rounded corner river" tile would make the game look way better. Square rivers just don't look natural.

You would only need to make 4 more tiles, but it would boost the visuals a lot.

Also, I think you should make your trees much bigger. It doesn't look right when your character is way bigger than the trees. That's just my opinion though.

Hi, thanks for your comment.
Well, you are right some minor changes can improve visuals a lot, I have been thinking about that and you suggest some good ones as well.

However, as you said, the graphics are "not final". This is not accurate, what is not final is the Wonder engine. Wonder: The Evil is a very small game that helps me develope the Wonder engine. Once the engine is more developed, it will should be relatively easy to replace all the graphics of the game. So I am not that bothered with the visuals right now.

Saying that, I did try to make the visuals have a very retro old 8-bit SMS RPG kind of look. Take a look of a game such as Miracle Warriors. I wanted it to look like a very old game, and I think the visuals and style are good in that way.

I do appreaciate your comment, maybe I will update the visuals some day, but for now I think they are fine.

Thank you guys,

It's still in early development, so the visuals are not final. I could have used place holders, but I enjoy doing the sprites and it also make it more interesting to watch.

Basically I am making it so I or others will be able to replace the "graphics module", so it will be possible that the same game have different visualizations. It could be sprites, ASCII or even 3D.
But that's irrelevant for the development now.

That would be in insane! I'd totally replace the graphics with my own, even if my where worse, just because its cool :D. Come to think of it, it would be like modding I mean if I change everything so it looks post apocalyptic... >_< Must.Have.Game.

Very good but it would need more details. Looks so boring with flat grass.
