Windward is a fast-paced naval combat game set in the fantasy time period similar to the mid-17th century. It features a variety of different ships to choose from, different maps to play on, randomly generated booty to discover, talents to earn, ships to unlock, and plenty more. Play skirmish by yourself or with up to 15 of your friends and become a feared pirate like no other. Best of all, you can try it for free!

The fast-paced fantasy-themed naval warfare gameĀ Windward is now free until further notice. Every account is now treated as a full account. If you play the game and like it enough to support it -- you are still welcome to, and thank you -- but you don't have to. Just go to tasharen.com/windward, sign up and enjoy it!
You can also download the game directly (and on Desura):
More info and the reasoning behind "why" can be foundĀ here.
Highest Rated (3 agree) 8/10
I just played the web demo, but it was quite a lot of fun. Very visually appealing, and looks like it has a lot of replayability due to customization.

Interesting but tragic... perhaps the Desura alpha-funding program would have helped (then the Linux beta could have been posted up for us to test out), and Aren may have gotten something out of the project.
Edit: D'oh! Moron me, here, didn't notice it *is* in Alpha funding... sorry Aren! :-(
There's a Linux version hidden at Tasharen.com
They did mention it in their forum. Tasharen.com

Hello folks, I just wanted to share my preview and gameplay video, located here:

Thanks!
The game is fun, but some descriptions are vague. I just completed juggernaut map with my frigate, contributed all 100% of materials, never died, killed 8 ships, didn't repair, and STILL have not unlocked ship of the line.
If that isn't good enough, then what is?!?
You need to be able to do 35,000 damage in under 10 seconds. Park your frigate in between of two towers with explosive ammo equipped, pop Now or Never and Good Stuff, and you should have a much better luck. :)
You get a message when you accomplish it correctly.
That makes so much more sense than what I've been trying. I Just did a 31,500 in 10 with my lvl 49 ship, so I'm getting close. Still using a lvl 36 cannon is slowing me down....
great graphics they got there
i would likely enjoy the demo, but it seems that they don't know how to put demos here.
Hey, thanks pal... :->
