"What Remains." Developed in collaboration with Volant Howl (also my brother). /// Pitch (ignore how poorly written it is right now) A man and his dog... You are a despondant survivor stuck deep in the Canadian Yukon (originally in Alaska; work related, etc). There has been a mysterious EMP blast (solar flare[s]) that has rendered the world void of electricity. The world has turned into darkness, save for the light show in the sky (aurora borealis). Riots have insued, anarchy reign's. Most of the population has dissapeared in the aftermath. WHAT REMAINS are desperate survivors that will do anything to survive. Armed with only a bowie knife, your wits and your faithful k9 companion, you must survive the elements/nature (frostbite, wild animals, etc) and other survivors by gathering what you can from nearby houses and stores and hold up your ground or as long as possible. Goal is to get back to his daughter in the states....

Description

As the game is still in very early development, I thought I would post some pictures of how the GUI is coming along.

We decided to go for "organic" looking Health, Hunger and Thirst bars. Instead of having a traditional stats bar (with lifeless rectangles), we felt this would be more "immersing." The player can visually see his essential tendrils of life going up or down.

We also decided to have a "quick bar" of sorts of integrated as well; having all the important facets that the player needs to kept all in one handy place. Pressing either Up, Left or Right can access his Melee weapon, Long Gun or Pistol that he is currently carrying; all in a very sleek, minimal hud. While none of this may be completely revolutionary, I feel like we took it in a good direction for our game.

So here is the creation of the GUI, thus far ...
