Hi Wanders,
So we're planning to start a crowd funding thing on IndieGoGo soon and we're wondering if there is any specific reward levels alpha testers would be interested in. We're mostly keen on doing it so we've got some funds for buying some additional stuff that would make Wander nicer. The most important of these purchases is a copy of Triton Water, for $475. Additional copies of Unity would mean we could use additional machines for light mapping, which would cut baking times down considerably, so we could increase the quality of the lighting a lot. Pro versions of Unity, with the light mapping features are $1500 per machine. Some texturing tools would also make things easier for our texturing artists. A little bit of money for paying musicians to play instruments we can't play would also make the sound track more lush. I think a preorder price that is cheaper than the launch price is the main plan, but i'm not sure what other rewards should be offered. What do you think?

The locations you have generated are very esthetically pleasing. A smaller limited edition poster (those are easy to outsource) with an overhead shot of the islands and your game logo might be a nice add-on gift for top tier givers. Plus it has the added benefit of being a form of advertising.

I think a lot depends on what you intend on having in the game. Are we going to have "houses", be able to change avatar colors(red griffons?), and what type of collecting are we going to be doing? If there's going to be an area set side for each one of us like a home location maybe some type of decoration.

I like the idea of some sort of home, perhaps a personal shelter to keep in with the general theme. I must confess I hadn't thought of customised griffins but have already suggested that the elf is a good character to customise (essential if you are a male! :) )

Yes...definitely a home shelter, although I have no idea what all the different avatars would have in common. There was a game I played before, that I was not keen on dress up as far as accessories, but having different color necklaces to go on each of their necks would be nice. I know we can't really see ourselves, but others can. Will we ever play a third person role, vs a first?

Adar13: thanks for the idea, sounds straight forward enough to provide as well.

I'm not sure about in game stuff distracting from the vibe of Wander.

Ahh...you are talking pre-launch? Yes, anything to do with the "Wander" logo, since it is a nice one!!

Just brainstorming here...Some of it may be totally impossible

Vinyl decals of the logo flower or the character rune images (I'd rock em on my car, no hesitation)
Posters (as mentioned before). Maybe with an awesome wander-related slogan? (My sig is used for geocaching but i found it very appropriate for this forum)
Wander logo keychain
"Team Azertash" "Team Griffin" "Walk, Fly, Swim, Wander." etc t-shirts/products. Maybe an inside joke for alphas like "Meet me by the waterfall" or a "Where's waldo" design with all the same griffin, as we spend a lot of time trying to figure out which of the 5 griffins on a beach is the person we're talking to.

I'm sure I'll think of more...

You know, a coffee mug with the Wander logo is a very practical gift for fueling those all night gaming sessions. Might be a nice gift for another tier of giving. Again, it's marketing for you, too.

(I'm totally channeling those PBS pledge drives that cause me to vacillate wildly between "Stop talking already!" and "Oooo! I want that!")

P.S. Just got the elf unlock and if this game ever gets legs... you could totally sell elf-wear for some mega bucks. Of course you'd have to go to the trouble of finding a clothing manufacturer, but those services most definitely exist. It's probably not worth the trouble at this time, but something to consider in the future. In the meantime, how about a set of temporary tattoos, elf-style, for one of the tiers? I think that's as easy as sending off a graphic to a vendor. And it sure would be unusual!

So the campaign is now live! I'm looking into how to actually get any of the stuff you've suggested. Thanks for all the ideas! Have a glance at the news item for the links.

(Looks at rug in front of fire) White tiger stripe griffin is sooooo yesterday. I fancy a fluorescent red griffin with blazing eyes leaving a trail of sparks as it thunders through the skies.
But seriously, let's just get the game off the ground and worry about perks later.

I wonder if Zazzle has a wholesale option? (And that would be international for you, so I wonder if that's more complicated. Here you'd just need a wholesale license which you'd need anyway if you were operating a business.) CafePress is the same kind of idea. Either could handily make your posters or mugs. I'm not sure about the temporary tattoos though.

One of the new guys over on the Google+ site asked this question and I don't know the answer.

"Trying to budget purchases. I like to get game soundtracks when I can, but $50 is steep for me at this time. Will the soundtrack be offered later for backers at the $25 level as a separate purchase?" -- Joshua Dirk

Can someone let me know the answer or go over to the Google+ site and answer him? This question was posted under my post where we suddenly expanded to twice our size over night.

Thanks, GH
