Verdun is the first multiplayer FPS set in a realistic World War One setting, the game which started the 1914-1918 WW1 Game series. The merciless trench warfare offers a unique battlefield experience, immersing you and your squad into intense battles of attack and defense. The game takes place on the western front between 1914 and 1918, in one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history. The developers were inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun France in 1916. The game includes many historically accurate features such as realistic WW1 weaponry, authentic uniforms and maps based on the real battlefields of France and Belgium.

The Christmas Truce is coming to Verdun on Steam again this year! Everyone will be able to experience the Christmas spirit, football games and snowball fights of the Christmas Truce between every few normal matches of Verdun. You will also be able to send Christmas cards from the trenches, and doing so will enter you with a chance to win a key for Verdun or Tannenberg, a trench whistle, or a Verdun thermos! We will announce three winners on our forums every day!

A temporary DLC will allow players to donate to War Child UK, earn a Christmas Truce 2017 medal, and join the Christmas Truce whenever they like for as long as they like until January 4.

Sounds crazy but that was indeed the truth, and it did not only happen in WW1 but also in WW2 at some places. You fight and kill each other, then, because its 25 december you stop doing so. Give each other a hand and laugh and the next morning you start killing each other again.
How strange these world wars can be, right?!
