An official release of my previous version of laser weapon/wave motion gun. update 1: completely revamped according to the new beam weapon mechanics.
How to install:
Extract all files to the respective folders
To equip this weapon to a plane, either manually edit the desired plane's ini and replace one of the special weapon name (SpecialWeapon_1/2/3 = "") with XP-9000_BEAM (may not be multiplayer compatible however, backup the original ini is highly recommended).
To increase/decrease the beam size, open the Beam_Live.ini in the /Reactor folder and change the Chain_1_Width value. You may need to adjust the XYZ position too accordingly as well as AoE size in Warheads/Beam_WH.ini in the DamageRange = line.
Beam color can be changed via manually editing (using Photoshop or whatever available) the BeamFire.png sprite.
update 1: completely revamped according to the new beam weapon mechanics. Now all weapons can fire simultaneously if you equip more than one, but the reload time has been increased.
Sound effect "borrowed" from Raycrisis (I think?)

Since I already have about 80% of the R-Type ship models (except R-9DV variants, even-numbered OFs, Leo2, Bydo ships, Curtain Call and Grand Finale) converted to VT it's just a matter of time to give them BFGs left and right.
Can't say the same about the Force Pods though *sigh*
Setting it as a main or special weapon can be redundant, just set it as the sub weapon (guns) and it fires out of the aircraft's cannons/guns.
Leaving you room to use the main and special weapons as gradius weapons.
Some of my shmupcrafts will certainly has laser as its sub/gun.
For some reason after updating the laser becomes totally invisible. What gives?
Invisible by the projectile doesn't appear at all or what? It works just fine here.
When I fire it, I can hear the effect and the ammo is counted as fired, but I don't see the laser itself.
I'm playing on the Beta branch by the way.
That's strange. Since I copied it straight from XSCL-3 (official template laser projectile), try to replace the weapon's projectile with XSCL-3_Beam.
Somewhat more info, apparently pretty much all other addons I had that included some kind of 'laser' in them went kaput.
Also changing to XSCL-3_Beam crashes with 'file not found' error.
That's strange, the lasers should've officially implemented by a couple of beta updates (0.9115 incubator) ago.
Anyway, try to verify the integrity of game cache.
Welp, apparently since the latest update all laser-type weaponry is back working as it should, such as Morgan TLS and CFA EML.
(Probably unrelated, but oddly only Falken's laser seems to be invisible-though-still-damages now. o.o)
Falken's TLS may look (almost) invisible because I used LIWAC's shot trail which is quite transparent for some reason.
Still gotta find how to change the laser's transparency though.
