TripleA is a free turn based strategy game and board game, similar to Risk, or Axis & Allies. Known for its multiplayer on the online lobby, it also allows Play-By-Email and network (LAN) play, as well as single player vs AI or hotseat. It has over 100 games and maps that can be downloaded from the user community. It is open source, needing only Java 8 to run (can run on Windows, Mac, Linux, etc). Supports savegames, encrypted dice gen, low luck, and other options. Recreate World War 2 with the Axis pushing through to Moscow and Japan devouring the Pacific, or recreate Napoleon's march across Europe, or Rome defeating the Carthaginian Empire, or even Sauron conquering Middle Earth, or Zombies taking over America! If you have ever played a game where you push little plastic/virtual pieces around, roll dice, conquer the lands of your enemy, & produce new pieces to conquer with, you will be able to jump right into TripleA!

So how to get more out of the turn-based strategy game TripleA? Where to get more maps?

How to download TripleA maps?

Just after starting TripleA, click "Download Maps" button and copy the following link below and paste it into the text field:
Downloads.sourceforge.net

Then click "List Games". And now you can browse and install various game types and maps.

A couple of them are particularly recommended:
World War II
World At War
The Rising Sun
World War II Revised
World War II v3
World War II v4
Quality maps
Twilight Imperium (twilight-imperium)
Red Sun Over China (Red_Sun_Over_China)
Battle of Aventurica
Greyhawk

Greyhawk map The Middle-Earth map

After choosing the desired map, buttons "Install Game" and then "Choose Game..." in the main menu screen are all that separate you from trying out these (and many others) maps. ;-)

Tried it both on Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows XP, and worked without any problems. What version of TripleA do you have? "Windows (installer) with Java"?

I downloaded Triple A Windows installer without java because I already have the Java platform installed, the downloads.sourceforge.net file does not work for me either.

Hmmm, maybe that's the problem, or an unknown one with XML. I have Java platform installed, but downloaded & installed the TripleA version with Java bundled with it (just to be sure).

Baineblade, Downloads.sourceforge.net site doesn't display in a web browser for you either?

Below are contents of the file:

Ok it's working for me now in-game, maybe it was some connection issue.

There's also a longer tutorial how to do that, here:
Triplea.sourceforge.net

Or you can download maps manually:
Sourceforge.net
