In Arcania, all magical energy comes from Gems, such as Amethyst, Ruby and Diamond. As the Player, you can choose to align yourself with 1 of 4 different types, Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby or Diamond. This alignment determines the type of character you will play as, either a Thaumaturge, Mercenary, Champion or Artisan, respectively. Each alignment has an array of different abilities, equipment, stat priorities and more.

In-game there is a strong focus on both combat and crafting, with both being heavily interconnected and necessary to be successful. Progression in the game is both level and equipment-based, and to get new equipment you need to craft it from resources you gather whilst exploring and from killing mobs.

The game also focuses on lots of exploration, with many different biomes to visit and plenty of dungeons to delve in to. There will be plenty of mobs, big and small, cute and ugly, as well as bosses for you to fight your way through all over the world and lots of quests to satiate your hunger for rewards and lore.

Implemented:

  • 4 Alignments (classes) - The Artisan, The Champion, The Mercenary and The Thaumaturge. Artisan and Thaumaturge implemented, others are in development.
  • Singleplayer - Solo gameplay is fully implemented.
  • Combat System - Each alignment has 6 skills (5 unique to them) plus their basic attacks that can all be used to fight the mobs and bosses of Arcania. These skills are a mix between offensive/defensive and active/passive.
  • Inventory, Equipment and Bank System - A good sized inventory to carry your required items with you, an equipment system with 10 different slots to fill and a big bank to store important items you don't need with you all the time.
  • Level and Equipment Progress - Lv1-60 to progress through with your character and a range of awesome equipment tiers along the way.
  • Hunger and Stamina System - As well as your Health for soaking up damage and Gem Power (Mana) for using your skills, you will also have Hunger and Stamina (used for double-jumping) to manage and make your gameplay more fun and challenging.
  • Resource Gathering System - Gather up ores, wood, gems, herbs and more whilst exploring the beautiful world of Arcania.
  • Item Crafting System - NPCs won't provide equipment and will seldom have potions for sale, therefore you will need to craft all of the materials you gather into equipment and potions for to use in your adventures.
  • Quest System - Complete a variety of different quests to help citizens all across Arcania using the fully functional Quest System and Quest Log.
  • Travel System - NPCs and other objects which will allow you to fast travel between towns and major areas (usually for a fee of course).
  • Vast and Diverse World - 2 of the 6 planned biomes are currently implemented. The others are just waiting for art assets to be finished. The biomes are grasslands, rainforest, desert, winterlands, mountains and caves - each will have it's own set of unique monsters and resources, as well as unique music and graphics.
  • OST - We have a fantastic composer working on this project to produce beautiful pieces of music to help compliment and enhance your gaming experience.

In Development/Planned/Stretch Goals:

  • Bosses (In Development) - Currently designing various bosses for the different areas of Arcania and waiting on the art assets.
  • Skill Tree (Planned) - We're hoping to add functionality to allow you to level up your alignments 6 skills at various intervals (perhaps each level) increasing their effectiveness.
  • Profession System (Stretch Goal) - Extending and building upon the current resource gathering system, the game would have a more traditional profession system allowing you to level different non-combat skills (e.g. Mining, Woodcutting, Alchemy) and require specific levels to craft certain items.
  • Achievements or Unlockables (Stretch Goal) - If this stretch goal is reached, I would like the community's input in regards to how they would like to see it implemented. It could be something like unlockable pets/companions/other things, or a more traditional system which tracks quests done, mob kills, etc.
  • More Biomes (Stretch Goal) - Currently there are 6 biomes implemented/in development, meeting this stretch goal would allow for more to be added to the game. Community input would be sought to decide on what players would like to see added.
  • Alignment Advancements (Stretch Goal) - The idea behind this would be that once you reach a certain level (perhaps at multiple stages) you could upgrade your alignment getting access to new skills/abilities.
  • Multiplayer (Stretch Goal) - Characters you create will be able to be played both on and offline, so you can play alone for a while, then go online and play with friends or meet new ones.
