Towns 0.40.2 demo for Windows
Feb 10, 2012 Demo 0 commentsTowns 0.40.2 demo for Windows. You need Java to run the game.
Towns brings a fresh new take on the citybuilding/management genre by introducing many RPG features.
Drawing inspiration from games such as Diablo, Dungeon Keeper and Dwarf Fortress, the game has you managing a settlement on top of an active dungeon. Instead of playing the hero who delves deep into the dungeon, how about playing the town that houses and caters to the hero's needs?
Both the RPG and strategic aspects will be fleshed out over a series of sprawling dungeons.
Craft unique weapons, obtain randomized loot and build a settlement capable of holding back the forces that come up from the depths!

Towns 0.46 has been released!
We are pleased to announce that the heroes, formerly known as cannon fodder, are now each a powerhouse to be reckon with. They will level up, they will explore unknown lands and they will turn weretigers into cute pigs!
Adding to the growing list of the heroes is the new elven archer, who's aim is sharper than his ears, and the mage, who master the darkest secrets of the morphing spells.
The highlander, a brave hero from the hills and snowy mountains will turn into a menancing bear ready to punch down any enemy dare to stand against him.
The barbarian, those fierce fighters will taunt nearby enemies and force them to attack him.
The short tempered dwarf will enrage himself into becoming a raging killing machine.
The thief, cunning cultists, will poison their targets and make them die slowly and painfully.
The knights, honorable and ready for battle, will raise their ally attack and damage stats.
Sips, the campmaker, will invite over his most loyal minion, Sadon, to aid him in the battle.
Sir Punchwood, the noble, will grant a defense aura to all those accompany him.
We hope you will enjoy seeing heroes die or prevail the horror that awaits them beneath your towns.

Played 0.46, and Heroes are now very useful. Didn't find any iron on the whole map though, and that means a LOT of the tech tree is completely useless to me. It also means that the most advanced foods are out of the question, and as others have commented, 95%+ of the time my 11 guys are all making meat/apple/pear pies. I don't even have time to build walls.
Also, if you're not very careful at the start, the slow growth rate of fruit on full size fruit trees and the small amount of starting wheat means you'll be using food as fast as you produce it (or faster!), which effectively prevents you from planting more crops or fruit trees.
Am i the only one having problems with migrant in the moutains since the last patch?
it's been 1 month(in game), i've build everything i can(exept iron base stuff)
got lot of food and empty room(underground, does it matther?) and still i didn't saw anyone coming.
Didn't have those problems before.
Same fo Heroes, even if my tavern isn't underground, they don't care :(
I aggree with you Bisku on forum, and have the same problem with balcony
You have to give free time to citizens, that's the major happiness boost you can do :)
Is there a way to know ingame why some buildings can't be built?
Sometimes the mason's bench will not be build although i have the correct zone and materials to do it.
Including the stone hammer? It is easy to forget that you need one.
What the use of balcony, and where do i build it?
Can't place bed in tavern, how do I make a tavern room?
Seriously, this game need a forum on Desura.

Nevermind that. Found it. Silly me. Still, can't figure out the balcony.
well, they have one already on their homepage ...
although i do agree, it'd be nice if i wouldn't have to register to another forum just to get answer to a question or two
for instance i really have zero control over the guys? there was a siege and the bastard spiders killed first the sleeping people (nobody bothered) and then picked the rest off one by one and i was slightly furious
I fixed my problem, I downloaded a recent LWJGL files and replaced the ones in my java folder and now Towns will start up.
