Hello everyone, we are going directly to 0.42 without stopping by 0.41 due to the fact that IndieRoyale gave us a lot of time to continue working. We didn't stop for a single moment and therefore have twice the amount of stuff jammed into a single patch to show for!

Besides everything in the previous 0.41 patch that was previously discussed, you can look forward quite a few new things, such as fully animated walk cycles for all citizens, isometric slopes and altitude (which is actually taken into account when displacing water or lava for example), and new liquid values.

Another cool feature you should be expecting in a hot-fix soon is that citizens will be able to raise and lower terrain features using mud! This will let you guys build all sorts of cool valleys and mountains for you to defend!

Towns 0.41 priorities

Couple all of this, with the content in 0.41, and we have a fantastic little update!
Here is a change-log for both 0.41, as well as 0.42 to look through!

Add: Priorities panel (F3)
Add: Roads (living entities walk faster here)
Add: Animations for living entities
Add: TTF Font
Add: Heightmap a-la Transport Tycoon
Add: Food values on food items tooltip
Add: Save options
Add: Use of user folder for savegames and options
Add: New special values for map generation (_WATER_1_, _WATER_INF_, LAVA_1_, LAVA_INF_)
Remove: Barracks (now everybody can be a soldier!)
Remove: Transition tiles
Change: Speed of living entities reduced
Change: Stockpile points are removed if you place a zone over it
Change: Turns to build thing on benches changed to 70% if a roof is present
Change: Turns to build thing on benches changed to 85% if the builder is underground
Change: Warning "Sure to exit without save?" panel
Change: Water system uses slopes now
Change: Faster seeds at map generation (so the game starts early)
Fix: Enemies won't try to break opened doors
Fix: Crash when build a building only with doors
Fix: Prefix/suffix percentages are set to 5% again
Fix: Little improvement in the minimap render routine
Fix: Improved a little the save/load game performance
Fix: Item issues when delete the zone under it
Fix: Lag if no mats when build a building
Fix: Draw the roofs/big items (ie. trees) when his base is outside the screen
Fix: Citizens recalculate their path if while they are following it other citizens blocks the path with walls
Fix: Minor graphic glitches

As for content, hit-points, defense, and attack have been revamped, as well as armor making you slower. Farms for each of the new animals that have been introduced, as well as new and improved food types. There are a few new animals as well, and the inclusion of roads (that actually serve a purpose). Only wheat farms require tilled soil, and stockpiles no longer look like green goo!
There are, of course, all sorts of other little things but we want you guys to find the goodies out on your own!

Great, this version is very good, most of all by the panel of priorities, the rest are pretty sight =].

It went up video in YouTube about the release notes in Spanish.

My villagers died of starvation. They were too busy building and the last villager starved to death while standing next to the apples she just harvested.

Priorities were all left at their defaults.

Towns 0.42a (patch) is up on all sites but Desura. Desura has to authorize it. The patch solves a lot the food issues.

I am really enjoying the priority options. This patch has many great additions. I would still like to see a change in the need for food. I mean, I understand of course that in survival food would be extremely important, but lately the game boils down to nothing but trying to get enough food. I would really like to have an easier mode for when I would like to just build a town or make a well equipped army and dig deep. Don't get me wrong, this is one of my favorite games, but it gets old loosing games to starvation even though you have a commercial size farm. It's just my opinion I guess, I always enjoy a challenge but this game should really be called Farms lol

You tried the new 0.42b? It solves a bit the hunger issues.
On the other hand, well, the key for success is the variety. I mean, try to set a meat producton chain, not only bread and you will see how your hunger issues dissapear :)

Our main site is the first site where we upgrade the build. The build there (and ALL the sites really) is 0.42a

As you can see, everybody has 0.42 or 0.42a. If you ask for help, you will receive it, no need to get angry.

I was wondering if the priorities could get a bit more love. One particular thought: I can't put haul vary high because my minions will waste their entire lives hauling every piece of mud they can find, but when they already have something in their hand (such as when just having produced a weapon), I'd much rather they store it in the stockpile than pile everything up around the tables I may need to build expansions for.

Additionally, I think it would be nice to be able to enable something of a round robin scheduler to prevent task starvation. Perhaps even with priorities skewing the tasks toward some fields, but never just allowing any job that needs done to languish until everything else is finished.

Perhaps, as the only one in the town with a brain, I should be micromanaging their behavior more, but I'm a bit lazy.

Anyhow, these are obviously minor qwibbles with an absolutely excellent game that will get even better once the heros start marching in (That is still in the plan, right? I was caught a bit off guard by this release, so I obviously haven't been paying adequate attention.).

Thank you so much for such a brilliant game. I've already got a gift copy waiting to give to someone (a gift copy of the Indie Royale bundle, actually), but I imagine I'm going to be handing out copies of this to others, too. (It's probably going to be PZ all over again. I hope my wallet can take it. It's just so worth it, though.)

Edit:
One more thought is that they should never place anything in a spot already designated for work. If I've already designated a spot for placing a carpentry bench, for example, it seems silly for them to go ahead and place a wooden helmet there. Again, just ideas and suggestions, but it can be annoying at times.

Yeah, indeed, the "don't put that item on the floor, just place it on the pile" and the "don't place that item here, because other cits are creating a wall" ideas are good ones :P We already know that and they are noted on our BIG to-do list :)

Sorry if any of that was stating the obvious, but this is already so much fun that the few annoyances I do run into really stick out. I've already lost many a night that I just had to pop in on one of my towns to see if there was a quick job I could do. Suddenly, it's far later than I had imagined and I had much more I needed to do.

Somehow, I just can't bring myself to regret a second of it, though.

Hello all, i don't arrived to update my towns version 0.40.2 to.
I mail staff but he write a link to nothing for my problem. I schearch a long time (2 day) on internet but nothing.

I install my version on desktop (perhaps it's a problem but were install it?)

Please help me.

Hello gdd.
Towns 0.42 is abvailable on all our vendor sites. The new 0.42b still needs authorization on Desura and Gamersgate. All the emails received (support (at) townsgame.com) has been replied and solved, so I supose that we didn't received yours.

Summarizing, if you bought the game on Desura you have to wait until Desura authorizes the new build (current Desura build is 0.42), then you can upgrade it through the Desura client

You don't understand me, i bought on desura the game town when he are in version 0.40.2.
Now town are in 0.42 (a new version) on desura platform and i don't arrive to upgrade my version.
I just wish anyone was upgrade his version explaine to me how i do it.

i write 2 mail at support and nothing........... Now i demand explain to gamer because if the respond is to wait i would an explaination because i bought game and i still alone to have no answer for pass to version 0.42 (and it's version on desura platform).

please anyone had this problem can explaine to me .

Hi,

if you open the Desura client, on the "Play" tab (upper side) you will see your games. Close to the Towns one you have to see a "update" icon (2 arros in a circle). If not, that's strange, but you can uninstall the game and install it again.

hi,

desura client don't found my game, i think i uninstallit and install again (like you say) but were i install game?
In version 0.40.2 you just have zip file and no explaination (the last time i install it in file on my desktop.

Zip? hmmmm, for sure you bought on Desura? Maybe Indieroyale? Or directly on our site?

To get the lastest version you have to use the same system used to install the game for the first time.

Hi. Great game. The "+" key does not work (on german keyboards) so I can't speed up once I slowed down with "-". But thats a really cool idea. On other Keyboard the num-Block works, but I haven't one.
Long ways put really much work in making food. Perhaps I do it wrong, but I would think a bit faster food production (less use or longer duration) would be cool.

P.S. It's hard to click walking townies cause they seem to be shown on a tile they are not on. And the save options for fullscreen doesn't work.

About the '+', we know thatm on next release we will add nice buttons to change it (btw, try to use shift + '+').
A well designed town is required to sustain large food chains :) Anyway, we know about the food problems that people are taking.

And for walking townies, try to hit space (pause) :)

The past 2 weeks was a bit busy because our real jobs. Anyways, we will try to update as soon as the current (next, 0.43) build is ready. Can't give you an stimated date yet. :(

That kind of crashes sounds like the ATI driver bug. Please, check our bug forums at www.townsgame.com for some tips.

Next build of Towns will come with a newer OpenGL library, so we hope that the ATI crashes dissapear.
Tip: Try to play in windowed mode

Please, check your game folder for a .log file and paste it on our forums. We will ehlp you.

On the other hand, if you own the Demo, it closes automatically when you reach day 20.
