ALPHAFUNDING +FAILED+ | TEAM GOT DISPERSED In order to continue development, we have to put a new team together, and fund the game through alternative source of funding. That will take some time. This project has not been abandoned. Unless information comes from the official source, please disregard online rumors. Indie game dev is a very tough business and the year 2013 is even tougher due to many new indie studios funded by former AAA developers. Competition for human resources and funding is fierce. People who believed it the game and ordered alpha - huge thank you, you will never be forgotten and when the game is resurrected, we will make it up to you, somehow. Thank you for understanding.

It's still early days, but Tomes of Mephistopheles is off to a good start. From the start, the game draws you in with its atmospheric soundtrack. In-game, everything is nicely done: From the silky smooth 60 fps graphics, to the dynamically generated dungeons with fully destructible environments and object interactivity, there is a lot to like here. If you are a fan of first-person action-RPG's, check this one out. With a simplified combat system it's easy to learn, and a blast to play. Recommended. 9/10

Development stopped at a early-stage. There is pretty much nothing to do ingame apart from killing some skeletons. No objectives and no direction at all.

Dungeoncrawler in good looking 1st-Person-3D, intense fights, atmospheric sound and all that natively on linux.... a dream comming true!
Alpha is a little short on content atm, but that is totally understandable. Almost bug free, runs perfectly ootb (ubuntu 11.10) and the atmosphere ist AWESOME!

Looking forward to a real gem!

Come on guys, this is an ALPHA.
I know that for some damn reason it is popular to call an almost finished game an alpha to get an excuse for bugs, but this is a real alpha, and should be treated as such.

And for an alpha, it has already much to offer. The engine is stable, you can already play the game, just more content has yet to be added. And for this, the developers need some more money. So get over it, and buy it. These guys made steel storm, so I am pretty sure this game will be great, once it's finished.

About the "high" price: Just look at other (popular) games. Minecraft now costs 20€/$, and wasn't cheap at alpha stage either. And to be honest, I wouldn't consider it stable yet. Yes, they added content, but the engine is really really ****** up. Did you ever run a Minecraft-Server? 4 People playing can easily take out a 16-core, 2GB-Ram server with SSD drives. Do you call this stable?
This guys are just developing the other way round: The engine and stability comes first, then the content. And honestly? I prefer it this way.

I will write a new review once the game gets stable, but for now it's 10/10. Just because of the potential that this game has, and to oppose those who just want to troll, giving low ratings.
