Jacques has been an unwilling resident of The Valley all his life. Named for the massive cliff walls that imprison the empty deserts within, its second most notable feature is how little of note it holds. Jacques has attempted escape from The Valley countless times before to explore the world beyond, but every attempt was met with mysteriously catastrophic failure.

Oddly, the other residents do not share his distaste for their home, fueling Jacques' frustration and leaving him to plan his escapes alone. We join Jacques on the eve of another attempted escape, but little does he know that he’s about to embark on a journey that will reveal what lies beyond those towering walls. If The Valley lets him.

The Wild Wild Pixel is an expansive point and click adventure game that pays homage to its rich ancestry, while carefully introducing modern day game mechanics such as a UI that is both intuitive and user-friendly, without sacrificing gameplay complexity.

There’s also an exciting skit system, companion characters, side quests, mini-games and more! The game's story unfolds over the span of four to five chapters, with each chapter providing roughly five hours of game play. We’re all about immersion and having your actions matter in the long run, no matter how small. You see a stray dog? Find him an owner. A girl’s being bullied? Save her from her bullies. You did both? The girl ends up playing with the dog outside of town, happy and content.

Our immersive world and suspenseful narrative is brought to life with an original soundtrack, and an intricate and fully voice-acted cast of characters. A plethora of entertaining animations and carefully crafted set pieces further enrich the world, along with mini-games and puzzles for the player to lose themselves in.

Our goal is to be able to work on The Wild Wild Pixel full time for at least half a year, giving us the ability to fully devote our attention to crafting the game of our dreams. We want to deliver the ultimate experience to you, with a rich and vast world to explore that is filled with intricate characters directed by a deeply engrossing script. This story has so much potential, we get giddy just thinking about it!

  • We want to include as many intuitive puzzles as possible.
  • We want to to take everything that’s good from the genre & elevate it while eliminating all the bad aspects associated with the genre like illogical item combinations and needlessly cluttered UI, without sacrificing gameplay complexity.
  • We want to create a world that is rich with additional, optional quest lines and interactions.
  • We want to add as much subtle storytelling as possible, that the player can explore over the span of the entire game and will eventually lead up to a big revelation.
  • We want to nail down the ambience and build up to an exciting, climactic finale with 4-5 chapters, each clocking at around approximately 5 hours.
  • We want the entire script to be fully voice acted.
  • We want to include as many areas to explore as possible.
  • We want to include a helpful hint system based on collecting help coins found through exploration. Help coins which you could use to either receive advise on your ideal next step or to receive a location specific hint.
  • We want to add all kinds of special features, such as skit &mini games to enrich the gameplay experience.

Chapter 1

After leaving Calvin’s room your mission is to acquire a train ticket and board the train before the day is over. There are two ticket halves in the valley & it’s your choice which you one hunt down first.

1. Ticket Half 1: Brandy
- Brandy owns the first half of the ticket. Walk into his Saloon and walk to the very right to talk to Brandy the saloon keep about the ticket.
He will trade you the ticket half IF you fix his piano.
- Talk to Dalton, the jester & musician, about the piano. He will mention that the Lumbersmith might repair the piano.

- Exit the saloon and walk to the right past the church. Talk to Lumbersmith about the piano, the muscular guy with afro at the saw blade.
- The Lumbersmith will tell you that he might help you if you get back his hammer from Calvin. Walk back to Calvin’s house BUT don’t enter. Next to his
house is a sign leading you to Calvin’s Backyard.
- Look at the red toolbox int the tool shed. Jacques will mention a hammer is in there. Pick it up and bring it back to the Lumbersmith.
- Give the hammer to the Lumbersmith, he will give you a schematic for a multitool in exchange.

- The multitool is made out of three items: A stick, a fork & a scarf. You can acquire them in any order:
- Stick: The stick can be found in the waterhole. Walk to the very right of the town to enter the valley map. Go to the Ha’Otoch Ruins.
(Skip this part if you have already solved the puzzle)
- To get past the gate on the right you need to solve a puzzle. Around that location you’ll be able to locate 5 stone pallets.
- One is blurred in the foreground at the bottom left of the screen. Another is just above it on the wall in the background. The third is next to the
snake like creature half submerged in water. The fourth is in the left eye of the toothed temple entrance & the last is just to the right of it sitting on a broken wall.
- Look at the mysterious mechanism on the gate to the right wight he red symbols. You’ll enter a zoomed in view. You need to put the pallets in the right slots. From left to right:
- The first one should be easily placed.
- The third one should be easily placed as well.
- Two pallets have a broken line going horizontally across them right in the middle. Right click to “examine” and click on them. Jacques will accidentally break both of them in smaller pieces. You should now be able to place the second & fourth slot easily.
- The fifth one is the most obscured and should be the only one left for you to place into.
- The gate opens and allows you to traverse further to the right.
- Here you will find a stick, sticking out at the edge of the water. Pick it up.

- Fork: Walk back to the saloon and talk to the jester Dalton. Talk to him about his guitar. You’ll be prompted to take a look at it. You’ll find the fork
jammed within his guitar, pick it up.

- Scarf: Go to the second floor of the saloon, accessible through the stairs to the left. There you’ll meet the little girl Kayla. Her bunny has the scarf you need. Talk to her about it, she says she wants a surprise in exchange for the scarf.
- On the second floor of the saloon, just to the right of the stairs, you’ll see some doodles on the walls. Look at it to get a zoomed in view.
Upon inspection Jacques notes that her favorite flowers might be lilies. Lilies can be found in the canyons.
- Walk to the very right of the town to enter the valley map. Go to the Valley’s Scar. There, talk to the crying fisherman. He’ll warn you of a beast
lurking ahead. Walk past him to the top right past his fish cart.
(Skip this part if you have already solved the puzzle)
- To get past this area to the top of the canyon, you need to work with the beast in front of you called the catram.
- Pick up a fish from the pile of fish to your left.
- Pull out your inventory and use the fish. Jacques now holds up the fish and you have three new actions available: Walk with fish, wave the fish & put away the fish.
- Walk with the fish to the right, the catram will follow you as long as you’re holding it up. The catram will walk over the vine knots to untangle them for you.
- Put away the fish and climb the now untangled vine. It will snap and Jacques will fall. Take out the fish again.
- The catram will now walk up to the stone, scratching it. Wave the fish at the stone or the catram and he will start head butting it. Repeat that action until he pushes the stone off the cliff edge which will allow you to climb up.
- Continue to the top right to reach the canyon top. Pick up a lily.
- Venture back to the second floor of the saloon and give Kayla the lily in exchange for the scarf.
- Now that you’ve acquired all three items, combine them in your inventory and use it on the saloon’s piano. Jacques will fix it and Dalton will promptly start playing it again. Talk to Brandy, the saloon keep, to gain your ticket half.

2. Ticket Half 2: Indigo
- Indigo owns the second half of the ticket. Walk to the right of the town and talk to Indigo, the priest in front of his church, about the damages caused by Calvin’s cannon.
- He will task you with collecting donations for the repair of the church in exchange for the second half of the ticket.

- There are three people whose donations you need to collect and you can do them in any order:
- Becca, the friendly housewife in front of Calvin’s house is the easiest donation that you can acquire.
- Talk to her about Wheezer, her drunken husband and choose to listen to her full story.
- After that, ask her about the donation. As thanks for listening to her ramblings, she’ll give you your first donation.

- Wheezer, the drunkard to the very left of the saloon is the next person willing to give you his donation in exchange for booze.
- Exit the saloon and enter the saloon’s cellar to the left of it with the “Keep Out!” sign. In there, to the very right you will find a set of
bottles on the floor. Pick one up.
- Next you need to fill it up. You’ll find it in the waterhole.
Continue walking to the right past the “Waterbed” sign, you’ll find yourself submerged in water again in front of a barrel.
- You won’t be able to pick up some of the rum inside with your bare hands. Use the bottle instead and fill it up.
- Walk back to the saloon and give Wheezer, the drunkard, his booze. He’ll thank you with your second donation,

- Marston, the crazy old man to the right of the saloon, is the third villager willing to donate to the church.
- You won’t be able to ask him for his donation due to him being senile & crazy. Scare him to temporarily wake him up by using the mask on him.
- Jacques will scare him with his mask and Marston will promptly give you your third, and last donation.
- Now that you’ve acquired all three donations, walk back to Indigo and give him the donations. He’ll thank you with his ticket half.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Finale

1. Boarding the train
- You have now successfully acquired both ticket halves and are ready to leave this valley. Walk to the very right of the town and select the trainstation on the valley map.
- Show Cough, the ticket booth guy, your ticket. You’ll now be able to walk past him towards the train.

2. On the train
- Once boarded, Jacques will question why there’s no one on the train.
- Train cart 1: Walk to the right towards the next train cart.
- Train cart 2: Walk to the right towards the next train cart.
- Train cart 3: Walk to the right towards the next train cart.

- You will now be outside, on the coal cart, fighting for your life against those strange, polygonal creatures.
- The snake like creature will constantly entangle and trap Jacques. When that happens, you need to click on the snake that’s wrapped around Jacques several times to break free. Failing to do so leads to failure and the segment will restart.
- Pick up the pickaxe handle and head on the coal art. Open your inventory and combine them.
- Use the, now repaired, pickaxe. You will now have three special actions: Walk with pickaxe, use/swing pickaxe and put away pickaxe.
- Walk to the left of the coal art. Right click to get to “use” and use the pickaxe on the chains below Jacques that keep the coal cart attached to the rest of the train carts to the left. Swing the pickaxe at the chain connector several times to eventually break it and detach the other train carts.
- The beasts will disappear to the left, with the rest of the train carts.
- Now you’ll be able to continue forwards to the right. Enter the train engine.

- A cutscene will play, followed by the credits. Congratulations! You’ve completed the 1st chapter of The Wild Wild Pixel in its alpha form.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Sub-quests

- There are three major sub quests in this chapter:
1. Kayla and her bullies
- When you talk to Kayla, the girl on the second floor of the saloon, as to why she’s playing alone inside the saloon she’ll reveal she’s being
bullied by the Candy Munchers.
- You can find the gang of childish bullies in front of the church. Once Jacques talked to Kayla about them, you can talk to the Candy Munchers and Jacques will scare them away.
- Once Jacques scared them away, Kayla will play outside again, next to Becca the friendly housewife.

2. The dog
- Next to the church you can interact wight he dog. Upon doing so, Jacques will try to find the stray a new owner.
- The only one who will accept the dog is Becca, the friendly housewife. Talk to her about the dog and she’ll adopt the stry.
Extra: If both Kayla & the dog are next to Becca, they’ll start playing together for the ideal quest completion.

3. Dalton and his music
- The chapter requires you to repair both of his instruments, the guitar and the piano.
- But did you know that if you talk about any of the instruments after they are repaired, Dalton will offer you to
sing a song for you?

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Collectables

- There are a bunch of collectable items you can collect in this chapter. You can inspect them and acquire some extra lore in the pause menu under “extras”. Here’s a guide to find them all.

1. Jacques boots can be found in Jacques room, when looking at the zoomed in view of his closet on the very bottom shelf.
2. A chess piece can be found on the second floor of the saloon when looking at the zoomed in view of Kayla’s doodles. Hidden to the right behind the broom.
3. Calvin’s cannonball can be found on its site of impact. Look at the hole in the church’s tower to see a zoomed in view. There, to your left, you’ll be able to pick up the cannonball.
4. In the waterhole, at the location with the toothed temple and the gate puzzle, you’ll be able to pick up a golden coin submerged in water to the left.
5. In the waterhole, past the gate with the puzzle, you’ll be able to look at a zoomed in view when you look at the frog on the stone above the water. The frog is holding a pair of scissors you can pick up.
6. In the canyon, in the valley’s scar, you can enter a cave if you walk to the very left. The entrance is to the right of the crashed plane. In there, you can look at the toothed totem to get a zoomed in view. There, above its right eye you’ll see a purple statue you can pick.
7. Past the catram, not the top of the canyon with the lilies, you can look at the tree hole for a zoomed in view. In it, you’ll find Calvin’s love poems that you pick up.
8. To the right of the canyon top, you’ll be able to walk to the very edge for a especially enticing view of the valley. There you’ll find another strange purple statue you can pick up.
9. Once you’ve completed most of the chapter, when you’re right next to the train, you’ll see a brown coat lying not he floor in front of the train sign. You can pick that up.
10. On the train, in the second cart for baggage, you can look at the food trolley for a zoomed in view. There, in the left drawer, you’ll find a sketch book you can pick up.

Two collectables are not available as of yet. (They are unlocked through the currently missing mini games.)

General Advice

- You can look at almost anything and Jacques will either have something to say about it or might even interact with it. Highly advised for the full, fun experience.
- Press ESC to skip cutscenes & to enter the pause menu
- The pause menu allows you to save, load, quit & look at collectables as of right now.
- There are different actions available to you depending on wether you have the inventory open or not.
- Closed: Walk, look & interact which encompasses use/talk.
- Open: Look, use, which also includes give, and combine.
- It’s worth exploring all dialogue options to learn more about the world and how to progress. Some options also change based on your previous actions in the game. You’ll also find sub quests this way.
- The daytime changes based on your progress. Jacques will always leave the valley by train at night. This changes not only the visuals but also where the characters can be found and what background music is played.
- There’s nothing for you in the desert, Jacques will just endlessly walk around in it never making any progress. Make sure to keep calm and walk back in the direction you came from to successfully get back to the valley map.
