(Due to the random nature of the level generation, you may miss some things if you only play it once! ** The Unknown is a procedurally generated horror game made by a one-man team (David Rico) in 48 hours for the Asylum Game Jam. Each playthrough is different and is only limited by the amount of content I could make in 48 hours, so I encourage you to play through it a few times to really see everything and get the full effect. It's meant to be very replayable. - Emphasis - Sound, replayability, gameplay, atmosphere. - Theme - The game is an exploration of the feeling of panic and hopelessness that comes from being lost, both mentally and physically. You must find a way to escape the labyrinthine depths of whatever hellish place you're in, but be careful... Fear is your worst enemy.

Version 0.02 of The Unknown has been released! It addresses some really big bugs with the game (such as the game ending not working) as well as adds new content and features to the game!

** Update: Build v0.025 has been released fixing a few bugs users found in version 0.02. It fixes a bug that would cause you to die from jumping too much, and a bug that would cause levels to generate incorrectly. IndieDB download links will be updated soon **

Ok so as promised, I just released a patch for The Unknown. The patch takes care of all the major bugs in the game and adds a couple of new ways to die, new content, etc. See below for full release notes.

Bugs Fixed

  • Fixed a bug that caused tags to block your path
  • Fixed a bug that caused tags to float in mid air if attached to a physics objectFixed a major bug that caused the game ending to not work correctly

Content Additions and Features

  • It is now possible to die from other ways other than Fear. Be careful when traversing The Unknown!
