During the game we will be able to crawl in the past and the present.
The story is the most important part of the game:
You wake up, you don't remember who you are. You look around, the city is in shambles. You vaguely remember the news reports from when it all went down. Something about the virus taking over humans and making them act feral. You have apparently been surviving for some time already but were you part of a group, were you with family? With no idea who you are, you set off into the city in search of supplies and answers..
A few hours later you start to remember a name - Alice
This part of the game takes place in the past - black and white / depressing and desperate
Eight years later, still looking for the girl, but this is a different world. No more mercy and n
o more redemption. A cruel world, where the survivors struggle to stay alive, not only with the infected, but also with each other.
Features
Parallel timeline:
Two timeline. Past (seven days after the event) and present (eight years after the event). The same location, but in other circumstances and other situations. In the past, we can find the memories and we can get answers to your questions. However, in the present, we need to live that we find what we are looking for.
Sandbox-style gameplay:
Giving players unprecedented freedom to forge their own path, while still possessing an engaging underlying storyline to drive things in the background.
A fully dynamic, persistent, and regenerative world: Conservation of resources, which change form, grow, decompose into other materials, etc..., but do not just "disappear" from the world-state balance.
The game has day and night cycle, in day time streets contain less infected and more people, and at night you can meet more infected which are much aggressive and dangerous, and almost no people on streets.
The game has a level of tiredness and hunger, and periodically the character need to sleep and eat for restoring forces.
Most actions of the character affect to the level of tiredness (running, fighting with melee weapons).
Gameplay also involves collecting hidden resources and supplies scattered throughout the city: water, food, batteries, gas, medicine, cigarettes, tools, weapons, and ammunition. Anything that the player can salvage from the destroyed city can be used to keep the main characters strong and healthy, or prove helpful in his quest by allowing him to rescue survivors.
Vehicles and weapons over time break down and need to be repaired with tools and spare parts.
The city are populated by walking dead, groupings of bandits, marauders, survivors, militaries, and other NPC. Also you can meet fortification of survivors. Inhabitants of the world (friendly or not) react to your choices.
Advanced NPC/mob AI: Things like working as a group, roaming, tactical maneuvers, learning about players actions, inter-NPC communication, etc...
The game uses a system of self-development of the character whose essence is that the player's actions affect the skills (firing from a handgun improves skill points which increases the efficiency of a handguns, repairing weapons and vehicles increase repair skill that allows you to carry out repairs more effectively).
