All in all, this is probably the closest unofficial game/simulator to Sword Art Online visually for the PC, Mac and Linux platforms.
SOLE DEVELOPER:
Allen or allenallenallen or allenallenallen333 (someone who has no proper training in anything related to game development whatsoever)
OBJECTIVE:
To make you realize that most if not all of the other over-hyped Sword Art Online games are either poorly planned or terribly designed. If their so-called "team" of members can't make something better than what I have done in the past 3 months, especially when they started one to two years ago, you should know that they're just a joke. Doubt everything, ask for proofs, and don't believe everything a person says. Oh, right, of course, another objective is to make a Sword Art Online simulation.
MULTIPLAYER:
I'll do it when I think it can be done "correctly." Otherwise, single player.
DOUBTS AND SUSPICIONS:
Before you go off saying: "Oh, hey, it's another SAO wannabe that's going to fail miserably!" No, this "game" is actually more of a simulator. It's my own take on how the game Sword Art Online would feel like if it is actually real based on the SAO anime. So what sets this project apart from other SAO ones? It's just me trying to create a SAO feel in real life. Oh, that and you get to download this simulator the moment I make an update. So at least you get a clue of what I'm working on, instead of just waiting a long time for updates you don't even know exist like most of the other SAO projects.
FAQ:
Q: Where can I download this?
A: Go to the downloads tab.
Q: Can I be a beta tester?
A: The game is always publicly released so help yourself. If you do keep up with the current versions, please do provide feedback. They're always helpful.
Q: Why isn't there a character? All I see is a black and purple capsule.
A: Because there isn't one... yet.
Q: VR Support?
A: No, because there's no point to having VR when not even 1% of the gaming community has any sort of VR devices. Furthermore, I don't have a VR device.
Q: Will there be a Nerve Gear?
A: No, I don't know who told you Nerve Gears are possible, and I don't really care. It's just not possible, at least not within the life time of this project. (It's actually quite entertaining to watch some of these SAO projects on here claiming to be able to make Nerve Gears, and what's worse, hundreds of followers believe in them.)

Feel free to discuss about pretty much anything in the right forums. Have fun!
Regarding my progress on my game though. There's been close to none during the holidays and school is about to start in a few days. Things will go crazy once again. But I'll still slowly update this game as I have for the past months. Hope you have a great time and see you guys soon.
Merry Christmas! Multiplayer is now live and capsule-ish?
Added textures for the interior design of Taft Inn. Consider this as another graphics update.
I didn't add anything new, just some better effects that make my 3D models look a lot more realistic. This version is released for both PC and MAC.
Sorry, I didn't make a build for the Mac version before I left for vacation. Now, it's finally built and ready to run. Everything is the same as the Windows...
MERRY CHRISTMAS! YOU CAN NOW PLAY WITH OTHERS IN MULTIPLAYER MODE!

First public Mac build. Please comment below if it doesn't work for you.
Now using Unity 5 with much better shaders and effects. Take a look.
Love me senpai <3
is this still in development?
Nope. I'd rather start something completely new than getting hit with a lawsuit from Japan.
hey guys just a question ,is there a character customization ? if not can u add this in the game.. tnx for answering
Character customization in Unity is completely 3rd party controlled, unless I design one myself, which is very unlikely.
I am on windows 8 and it won't just run the game is there anything else I have to download
It works fine on Win 8 for me. You sure you downloaded the right one for Windows?
Nerve Gears aren't THAT impossible, you know. From what I gather, the NG does three things:
1. Read brain waves and decode nerve signals using a non-invasive method.
2. Create a feedback system so its own signals can be sent to the brain, overriding the actual nerve input from the body.
3. Disable nerve signals to the entire body so the users don't actually run around their rooms.
Now, 1 & 2 are perfectly possible and have already been successfully attempted in labs. The really tricky part is the third one. Even if someone somehow managed to do it without damaging anything and without interrupting the operation of vital organs, they'd have all sorts of legal and safety issues to work out (what happens in the anime being a perfect example of how it could go terribly wrong), which makes it near-impossible to pull off, at least the way its shown in the anime. However, brain interfaces may just be the gaming device of the near future, so don't just go saying it's impossible. It's certainly not a job for a team of maybe 3 people working out of a garage, though.
Also, if you want SAO, play the official games. Why make one?
Regarding NerveGears, #1 and #2 are possible and have been done but not even close to all the signals needed. They're trying to break the code of the overly complex human brain and it's very very slow process. Yes, it works, but no, it's not practical yet and it won't be for decades.
Now about the SAO game thing, I'm just trying to make a point of other Indie game devs who supposedly are working on SAO without any knowledge about game dev yet still claims to be doing very well showing little to no progress whatsoever. If anyone wants to play SAO on PC, there are Dragon Dogma Online and Black Desert Online.

You'd be surprised just how fast technology advances these days. Remember how we all used to have Nokia or Sony Ericsson phones with ~200MHz CPUs just 5 years ago? I'm hoping they'll make this stuff into consumer market items faster than most people would expect. We already have (or will have shortly) the HoloLens, something most people would have thought impossible just a year ago.
About the SAO thing, I understand what you're doing, and I actually think it's kind of a good idea. I was mostly commenting on other people's projects. And to claim to be able to make a NG...
Going to just respond to the last part, don't really care about the Nerve Gear.
Why make games overall?
All game genres are pretty much all explored, you can't create a genre or really a game style anymore. Everything has been done from sci-fi to fantasy; making a Sword Art Online game is perfectly fine as it's a floor-based system, creates something a bit new, but it follows a generic MMORPG which isn't interesting at all nowadays since pretty much everyone has played one.
However, from my looks of it, Allen is mainly focused on just doing level design stuff.
Precisely. Which is why so few indie games are actually good. If you're gonna take something that AAA studios have done and add nothing to it, it's just bound to be a failure. That's not to say that all indie games are bad however. Take World of Goo for example.
