Super Mega Bob is getting rain, stories, and more levels in update 0.2.1!

Super Mega Bob version 0.2.1 has just been submitted to Desura for approval, and I must say that I'm very excited about this particular update. For one thing, it's the first update through Desura - and it will be the first of many to come! If you haven't already downloaded super Mega Bob Beta for free, make sure to grab it now!

SMB Beta 0.2.1 brings a few new things to the table that should prove quite enjoyable for players. Perhaps the most notable feature is the beginning of the in-game weather system. As of now I've managed to add some very nice looking rain, which works beautifully with the already existing day/night cycle in the game.

The second change is the addition of some more story material. I've added some new in-game movies which play at the end of specific levels. If you've already completed the game, don't worry: a special "Story Movie" tag appears on the mission select screen, so you can replay levels that have stories at the end. The stories will keep the same simple, childish "story book" look of the intro movie. I feel like it fits the best with the overall theme and feeling of the game, and reflect Bob's innocence.

The final part of the update is something I know everyone will enjoy. . . five brand new levels to challenge your 2D shooting prowess! One of the levels in particular is quite challenging. It's the first one that I feel like has really nailed the action/puzzle combo of the game. You can't just go shooting willy-nilly through the level, but instead have to really observe the patterns closely and come up with a set course of action. I found only one good method of getting through the level, and missed the bonus coins at that. Pretty darn fun!

Please connect with me through Twitter while you're here and I hope you enjoy the update!
