StarFire was created with the intention to provide a tool to explore the depths of the universe and its secrets in a playful, educational, and thought-provoking manner. In order to do so, the player must design his spacecraft in such way it fits his individual needs and play style, and most importantly, withstands the dangers that linger in the dark. As such, StarFire implements models based on science, and may also cross the border between reality and the paranormal.

Description

Long time no see, IndieDB.

Work focusses on structural changes so there wasn't much to show in the past weeks, but important progress is there enabling me to create a program that is giving very interesting possibilities, which also happens to run relatively reliable for its dev stage.

What I'm currently working on here is a remake of the graphic editor parts. Testing has revealed that many small objects with n vertice count will cause more CPU load than less larger objects with the same vertice count - So I decided to add more larger objects to achieve the best possible efficiency. It looks less blocky now and actually doesn't look a lot like it was constructed from numerous different parts.

The measurements of this ship are:
~ 40 elements, ~50m length, ~35m wing span, which is approximately the size of a space shuttle. I honestly cannot wait to try to reconstruct it once the editor is up and running.
