Star Commander is a free 4x game with streamlined mechanics for a minimum of empire micromanagement. Membrane Software has released an update for the game (version 6), with these changes:
* Windows build now runs in XP
* UI and game balance fixes
* Lasers can now withstand more damage before going offline
* Fixed a crash bug that can occur when processing the AI turns
* Fixed a problem that can occur if an cadet is removed from an Academy while in training
* Fixed a bug that can cause torpedoes to start combat in a "reloading" state
* Fixed a bug that prevents a production bonus planet from granting proper credit discounts
Thanks to all who provided feedback on the first builds, especially folks on Windows XP who should now have a working version. If you haven't tried the game and are looking for a strategy fix, Star Commander may be just what you're looking for... why not give it a download?

AI seems to give up midway.
You might wanna fix so you can have fullscreen, be able to save and load since is quite boring if you got far into the game and need to shut down the game.

The Download is broken or something.?
Really nice and well made game. I loved it. But there are a couple things i think you should improve on.
-Movement animations
-New resolution options ( I have a giant computer, and since the game only has one default resolution, its kinda blurry)
-Alien life on unexplored planets and solar systems. you should be able to either attack them, get technology from them or ally with them.
Other than that i think its a great game (especially the music), but still needs to be updated alot more

Was intrsting and it is intresting still its sad that i keep missing and the ai keeps hitting 9/10 shots it do, if you attack with 3 destroyer ships vs a bas with 2 defensive gun platforms you got overwhelming odds in winning 380 Power vs their 70 power still you with 380P lose vs the ai little 70P its kinda bad that it happens like that, Still a good game tho.
